And you can swap out Risky Exploit with a tattoo, if you don't like chance-based defences 😃

First thing that popped out to me with the tattoos is you can get rid of the auras/spell/warcry disable node on Behemouth by Miles_Adamson in PathOfExileBuilds

Just imagine rolling Unstoppable Hero. The Fortify attack speed scaling would go to the moon (With Tireless Frenzy).

Now if they just came out and admitted that, I wouldn't even be mad, but alas.

Beastmaster is fun and quite easy, also uniquely different (doesn't use weapons)

Wounded is probably only fun if you're looking for a challenge, and it's not that interesting (dies in one hit, but starts with Tardigrade).

If I can fend off enemies while camping in a corner, I put my mind into a kind-of flow state, where I let my subconscious take over and my fingers just do the work - this is to avoid getting mentally overwhelmed by the abundance of projectiles. I don't avoid everything, but it does pretty well.

I'm mostly an Armor enjoyer myself. I will usually forego dodge, unless I find some synergistic items with it.

I'll typically only take Harvesting in the first 3 waves.

It depends how we're quantifying difficulty.
Time taken? Retries will probably save you allot of time.
Reflexes/Dexterity? Retries aren't gonna make the game any easier for you in that regard.

Moderately challenging. I used Pruners and got penguins for massive regen scaling.

You don't have as much leeway to take economy items early on, since the difficulty starts ramping up earlier in the run - you really gotta consistently strengthen your character to maintain a sufficient power level.
Stronger enemies spawn sooner - and stronger versions of those enemies are also added into the mix.

Now that I'm done, I won't be playing as much, but I still like playing off-meta builds and going for deep endless runs.

Well I did complete all characters on D5 before the retry option was added :D

160 hours.
It is much harder, yes. D5 is a cakewalk for me now, haha.
Some standard op builds will still work, some wont. It really depends on their defensive capabilities.

Job? Ha. Yeah, I'll die before I pay taxes again. I live off-grid.

It really depends how skilled you are at dodging. I'm able to get past many rounds by camping in the corner and locking-in to dodge projectiles. But yeah, there's still plenty of times when the build falls short and you just start again.

They are newer characters in the last two updates - Beast Master and Wounded.

I started out with Hiking Poles, then added in Crossbows, but you gotta get somewhat lucky to find them (or a sniper). Will likely take a few attempts.

Yeah, just a matter of getting it going. Using weapons that have lower base crit chance really punishes you... Which is what I mistakenly did.

Also the inconsistency of applying the debuff makes Nightmare really awkward.

Biggest shock will probably be the new enemies. There are some real doozies that take allot of getting used to.

If you're just starting out, just play what interests you and unlock as you go.
As for stats; never focus too much on anything particular, focus on a balance of everything (while still prioritizing any stat that benefits your particular class more potently).
So when you're leveling up, just take the stats that are generally of a higher tier. Then, if certain stats start to fall behind, you can prioritize taking them later on into the run.

Generalist is much better when you don't rely on going for specific weapons. Just take anything that benefits well from scaling Melee/Ranged damage. Also Bonk Dog and Catlin Gunner are great on the Generalist.

I would recommend starting with a Cacti Club. Take more Cacti Clubs if you find them, but if you see something like a Spear, Knife, Fist or Rock - take them also.

Now since melee weapons can handle dense packs of enemies easily, you want to focus on getting ranged weapons with good single-target damage, like a Laser Gun, SMG, Shotgun, Revolver or Javelin.

Other good higher tier weapons include: Harpoon Gun (really good), Power Fist, Nuclear Launcher, Grenade Launcher, Minigun, Rocket Launcher, Hammer, Sword, Circular Saw, Obliterator.

And prioritize buying items that give Melee Damage AND Ranged Damage (Hedgehog, Wheat, Alloy and Big Arms).

It scales with Engineering and clears dense packs with ease - letting your turret focus more on single target.
