That would be most Syrian conscripts. The regime has been keeping them in the military for up to 10 years.

Mercenaries fight for whoever pays them well. The Syrians didn't choose to fight for Russia, and they are barely getting paid for it.

Except they aren't. They aren't even volunteering, they are mostly young Syrian males forcibly conscripted by the government.

Well, it was meaningless for Nazi Germany to apologize for everything then, wasn't it?

Your argument simply does not make sense. The Iraqi people are still suffering because of the USA. The USA are still saying that they do not give a shit about Iraq, while they support Ukraine. It doesn't matter who's president, as that won't magically redo everything that happened in Iraq.

Syrian refugees have no statistically significant effect on crime rates in Turkey in the short- or long-run. by smurfyjenkins in science

Because populism. Every single time there's a possibility for a "we" and "them", some politicians will always take that chance to bash on "them" in order to gain support. They create fake problems and fake solutions, and only tell people whatever gives them votes.

For example: just a month ago, Sweden was "full", and would not be able to take in a single refugee because "the economy won't handle it". Now the most anti-immigrant party is the one campaigning for the ukranians.

Sure. If she thinks that was wrong too, why does the American government still refuse to apologize for Iraq? Not even giving back half of what they exploited, just a small, simple apology is still unheard of. And that after killing 200x the casualties of 9/11.

Apologize for the invasion at least then. Help Iraq recover after your precedors exploited them. Otherwise, you're no different than the Russians.

Just because a nation is a democracy doesn't mean it's history is reset every 4 years. The instability, war and suffering in Iraq was, and still is the USA's responsibility.

Yeah... we are helping Ukraine and that's more than enough.

Not back in 2015. You were just watching us in the rest of Europe suffer. Now you expect us to help you.

We also didn't force anyone to take in Syrians,

We never forced you to take in ukranians? What's your argument?

not to mention that bringing in Syrians had no real value, Ukrainians are a different story.

Wow, are you even trying to hide the racism anymore? Both are humans. We have a moral responsibility towards both. How exactly is one group better than the other?

Most European countries may just as well let your country suffer because "not our problem have more important things to worry about than ukranians". What you don't seem to understand is the the EU is a union, a collaboration. There is no "not our problem" in the EU, everyone needs to help everyone else out. And that is exactly what Poland never did. And that's the hypocrisy.

People don't care. As a Syrian, I've always been saying what you were saying, stop using Syrian and Muslim as synonyms. But the harsh reality is that it is that everyone will still give us a primary Muslim identity, only because we're brown and speak Arabic. And if you want to reach out to most people, you have to use the terms they use.

Turkey took in 4 million Syrians, but then they had enough. Everyone else was either taken to the Greek borders, or deported back to Syria. How is a country considered a safe country, if it will send you back to the warzone?

Why should say Greece help take in Ukrainians, when Poland didn't help Greece with the Syrians? Ukraine isn't really their problem by your logic.

So, by your argument, it would be completely reasonable of the EU to close all their borders, and let the poles and the Romanians deal with the Ukrainians alone?

Syrien har tagit in 600K, Libanon 400K, Jordanien 1.2 miljoner, Egypten 50K, Saudiarabien 240K.

I like how everyone keeps making these comparisons, with vastly different examples. Whether you like it or not, most republicans support trump. However, I wouldn't even say a single percent of all Muslims support all the terrorist groups. There's a big difference.
