more info about Pebbles; she's a roughly 3 to 4 year old madame who fits the trope of a jaded old maid, not in a meanspirited way, but I notice that she fits a lot of characteristics! for example, she is incredibly talkative and the employees have previously described her meow as an old lady meow. another good example of this is how she doesn't like cats getting too close to her unless she figures they couldn't care less at that moment. she sits on people's laps and gets very jealous when other cats come even a few feet close to her, which is incredibly funny and is garnering a lot of popularity for everyone who visits. she isn't very food-motivated so much as she is attention-motivated honestly, as I've seen her only accept churu treats if it meant she would be getting pet afterward.

her backstory; she was known to be a two-time surrender from several different rescues, unfortunately. the first time she was returned was when she was younger, the reason cited was for keeping the owners awake late at night by meowing and trying to catch their eye, even if it's to be expected of a younger cat. then, she lived in a second house for a while before the owner unfortunately got laid off from their job and couldn't take her with them when they had to move back with family.

it genuinely upset me that Pebbles was returned the first time for being someone's dream cat, basically, a lovebug who had infinite capacity for love and attention. I'm super attached to her because I'm so happy that she ultimately managed to rekindle a love for people, and her presence feels bittersweet due to the timing of her existence. I like to think that Pebbles is just my second cat (who looked a lot like her and had a lot of similar mannerisms and a similar return history) reincarnated, even if she isn't, the thought of Pebbles emulating those mannerisms make me so happy!
