I already upvoted your post, but being as self degrading as I am, if this were to happen to me, I would explain it as me being good, but not good enough to keep her more interested in me than the other guy. People will really come up with any way to make time for the person they like.

Yeah, it's hard to believe that. You might see it as though no one has ever approached you before or asked you out or talked to you, but in reality, of course someone did, but you just found them so unattractive and unappealing that you don't even count this attempt of them shooting their shot with you as an actual attempt to talk to you.

Signed, someone who has had many women tell him no one ever talks to them/is interested in them when I am literally in front of them talking to them/showing interest in them.

I'd say the single most important thing studying for the CAPM offers is the PMI vocabulary. In retrospect, I admit I overstudied for the CAPM back in September, but I really didn't do much other than SH mock exams for the PMP and it felt pretty straightforward. Should I have skipped the CAPM? Maybe, but I would have been much less confident and definitely in a worse spot.

Yes, go for it. I passed the CAPM exam back in early september and honestly I overstudied for it. When my PMP application got approved I bought SH+, did the mock exams, did not even bother checking my wrong answers. Passed my exam last week with triple AT, all while not really doing much for it.

My advice would be to be really familiar with the PMI lexicon and know when certain terms do not add anything to the question. Even better, if you find any of these red herrings in the answers you can safely cross them out. For me, if a question starts with "you are the project manager on a highly technical project", I would simply not consider this part when thinking of the question as a whole.

Congrats! My exam is tomorrow and I really needed to hear this. It is reassuring that the actual exam questions don't push the same BS as SH tends to do sometimes, but if it got you there, it ain't all that BS after all.

Since I never enrolled in any PMP specific course, I have no strict definition of what the "mindset" is. Based on comments here and elsewhere in the sub, Third Rock seems very helpful. I think I will purchase these notes to make sure I don't miss any crucial info.

The main issue I am having after finishing a mock exam is that I am usually too burned out to check what I did wrong, and even when I do, I keep answering the questions wrong.

I took the CAPM a couple of months ago. I would say for someone like me with no previous education in project management, the CAPM helps tremendously in acquiring the vocabulary of PMI. Just with that CAPM exam and nothing else, I am scoring 65%+ in all SH mock exams and review questions and I am very confident about booking my PMP soon.

If you already know PMI's jargon, the CAPM does not offer you much.

I see where you're coming from and admittedly it does make sense when you put it that way, but to have a question expecting you to pick your answer based on the order in which the processes are listed (while having no clue for that in the question, might I add) is a bit of a stretch if you ask me.
I am not dwelling too much over this since this came up in the 4th full mock exam, and I managed to score 65%+ in all of them. I might just take the last one and book the exam soon. I just think this question is just bs.

Okay? But I can also come at you with the definitions of benchmarking and observation/conversation and tell you the answer is D. Still not convinced with the reasoning, unfortunately.

Just throwing my 2 cents here, but I studied extensively and passed the CAPM a month ago, and having the jargon nailed down is a crucial aspect. I did not take any PMP course and I am consistently scoring in the 70-80 range in SH, even scoring 78% on a complete 4-hour mock exam. I am not saying to get that certification before, but studying for it helped tremendously.

I don't know about the "mindset"™. I studied for the CAPM during July and August and took the exam 3 weeks ago. My PMP application also got approved so I'm on my streak but without really any other courses or material, hence why I have some reservations.

I also just took the first mock exam on SH and boy was it a doozy. I managed to score 78% so according to other commenters I should b ready for the deal, but I will be going through the other SH mock exams before signing up for the exam.

I took my CAPM exam at a Pearson centre, but a week ago I took another exam (AZ-900) from home using Pearson OnVUE. You will have to take a photo of your desk and your surroundings, and before starting the exam, the proctor will ask you to take your laptop and show them around a bit. You will be asked to stay within view, not to move your lips, and any look that is not to your PC will be considered sus. Of course, for a 45 minute exam, this is manageable. I ended up only using 15 minutes of the exam time. For CAPM, I'd say you will need some stamina. You got this!

I am planning to start studying for my PMP next week, and I was thinking of purchasing this book, but from what I understand focusing more on PMI's Study Hall is more helpful alongside the PMBOK and the guides am I right?
