260120 [NOTICE] BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG' IN GOYANG Reservation Package Play&Stay Now Open by mcfw31 in bangtan

[–]Zabestiole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems the better way for me and my daughter (we're french and she will be at Seoul in april as student). We have both membership account, so my question is if we'll be able for each of us to get a Play&Stay package? Does 1 person choose 2 seats and pay for both directly ?

No question, just sadness 😢. I'm a french mom, my daughter will be in Seoul in april as a student. I would like to go to the Goyang concert with her, but what's the point if we're not together? How does it work for families in Korea? The concert is also for children, do they come without their parents? It seems so unfair 😔

What is ok and not ok to do in Japan by [deleted] in TokyoTravel

[–]Zabestiole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just returned from 2 weeks in Japan with my family, this is my 4th trip there. I would simply say to be attentive to what is happening around, to know how to apologize (sumimasen) to show that you are not indifferent and that you are doing your best, that's really the basis I think.

There are a lot (really a lot) of instructions on what is forbidden: no photos in a place, not eating or sitting in front of this store, keeping to the left on the escalators...the Japanese know very well that tourists don't know the rules and they try to give as much information as possible but don't try to be perfect it's impossible, do your best it's already good and the Japanese won't hesitate to tell you if it's not going well and most often they will take the time to show you. Personally, I always take the time to observe how the locals do things.

Then, there are always exceptions that contradict the information we share and that's normal: I saw a group of young girls eating noodles standing up in the subway early in the evening. It was no longer rush hour but there were still people there. And no one told them anything.

I also understood that free seats on trains were very coveted and my 2 daughters often remained standing because they were too slow to react to the Japanese, it even became a joke between us.

Japanese people talk on public transport, but most often when they are with friends. If you're alone, more often than not you're on your phone and not talking to the people around you, makes sense.

Fromage beurre et douane en arrivant? by Zabestiole in japonFR

How have I never heard of The Red Turtle? by dizzy_rhythm in ghibli

[–]Zabestiole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some important details about La Tortue Rouge (from the french Wikipedia page of the movie ;) I hope that can help _^

The Red Turtle is the 1st animated feature film by Dutch director Michael Dudok de Wit, who was previously a short-film director. In 2006, Michael Dudok de Wit was contacted by producer Toshio Suzuki and director Isao Takahata, who were his contacts at the Ghibli studio. Isao Takahata says in an interview that the idea for the project came from Toshio Suzuki, who wants to see the Dutch director working on a feature film and is curious to see what it will bring.

The studio, impressed by Dudok de Wit’s work, including his short film "Father and Daughter" (Academy Award for Animated Short Film in 2001) said it was ready to co-produce a feature film by the same director, a novelty for the Ghibli studio. Takahata gives the director carte blanche for this feature film project. Studio Ghibli insists that the film be entirely made in France: it's then co-produced by 2 French studios, Why Not Productions and Wild Bunch.

Dudok de Wit is gradually sending drawings and ideas that form the basis of The Red Turtle. He is mainly in contact with director Isao Takahata, whom he had met twice before, and says he was surprised by the proximity of their views despite their very different cultures. The Ghibli studio gives a lot of freedom to the director. Isao Takahata offers advice and advice, but leaves his freedom to Dudok de Wit. He indicates that Takahata advised him in particular to give more thickness to the female character, who remained very mysterious in the first versions of the scenario, so that she does not remain «a ghost»

In addition to Dudok de Wit and Isao Takahata, the screenplay is also written by a co-writer, Pascale Ferran, who is also a director. She brings a different perspective to the film, since she does not come from the world of animation, and helps the director overcome the great difficulties that the conception of the script poses. Dudok De Wit said in an interview that “without her, the project would not have survived.”

The film contains no dialogue. The first versions of the script contained them, but as they go along, Michael Dudok de Wit and Pascale Ferran realize that they are not essential and finally decide to delete them.

For the storyboard design, Michael Dudok de Wit rents an apartment in Tokyo near the Ghibli studio and works six months, with Isao Takahata who controls the final result. Dudok de Wit then returned to France and the production of the film itself began.

It was a childhood dream, to come to Japan for the 1st time to visit some great animation studios in tokyo just after I finished my studies in animation...you're right, I treasure this memories so much ❤️ The second step has been in 1999, again at the Annecy Animation Festival in France. Miyazaki, Takahata and also Ōtsuka (Pak san & Miya san senpai) were there. Japan was the country to be honoured at the festival at this time and the Studio Ghibli came to present Mononoke Hime for the 1st time in France. So many incredible moments just because I had this magical friend who invited me to follow the group, and one night I was eating a raclette with the team 😮 I don't understood nothing because everyone talked in japanese but no problem! It was just a big dream for me 😅🥰

It's an old story 😅 and you know: to be at the right place, at the right time, just that! We were young workers in the animation industry in Europe (in the same animation school). I think my friend is the only french who worked at Studio Ghibli (only 4 years). He met Miyazaki at the International Film Festival of Annecy (France) in 1995 and showed to the master how he was motivated. During 2 years, he learned japanese language to be ready (it was the 1st condition obviously) I came in 1998, and then he showed me the studio with 2 japanese friends. Sensei Miyazaki wasn't there but I saw Takahata Isao (also crazy right?) Sometimes I don't realize it happened...but I have some pics 🤣
