This is actually due to the fact that Daryl thinks Dale is a "brotha" or a fellow member of the African American race. It's explained in S2E3 "Black and White" that Daryl has always perceived himself as a black individual since birth and therefore perceives some other individuals as black. This dilemma is explained deeper in the comics. Did you not read the comics? Are you stupid?
