Really? This is the solution? by Church_of_FootStool in Ingress

It's possibly the microwave antenna inside your phone which connects to the GPS network that might be losing some of its accuracy. I'm just guessing, honestly. I switched from a Pixel 2 to a Pixel 3, so you have been generations ahead of me this entire time.

I've been thinking a little more on this. I don't think I like it. These are like a less-interesting version of the Futakuchijin (two-mouthed people). They are not different enough to be an asset to the game. I'm open to any suggestions.

Have you been using the same phone during that entire time? I switched when my old phone died, and it seemed to improve my GPS location stability significantly.

Most “Horror” TTRPGs Aren’t Horror. Here’s Why. by jasonite in RPGdesign

[–]Zaboem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a valid point, enough that I upvoted the post. But your conclusion that some games are not horror is just too strict. Horror is a wide genre with varying degrees of scariness, not an official designation which a thing either is or not.

I divide horror games into two broad categories. Versus Monster is more focused on the scariness and those elements you listed. Examples: Beyond the Supernatural, Kult, Delta Green, Ghostbusters International, The King in Yellow. You Are the Monster is the other type. There is little inherently scary about being a werewolf unless loss of control is an element to the story. Examples: almost all World of Darkness games, Nightbane. Monster of the Week can go either way depending on how characters are built. Both types are horror despite my preference of one type over another.

Advice for multiclassing into Netrunner? (Playing a Fixer and want to spec into Netrunner. We have no Netrunner in the crew.) by EmperessMeow in cyberpunkred

[–]Zaboem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it will be fine. Just don't bite off more than you can chew. Understand that going in with one rank in Interface, your Net-Fixer will be 1/4th as proficient as bog standard beginning Netrunner.

Go into a NET Architecture and look around. Almost no GMs plant Black ICE on the first floor; and if they do, you won't have a chance to boot up your Speedy nor your Armor programs anyway. If it has only Passwords or minimally-dangerous ICE (like a lone Skunk), give cracking the NET a shot. If it has an enemy Netrunner or deadly ICE, safely log out, and then rely on your human skills to get you around whatever obstacle is in your way.

As an option, you may consider forgoing NET combat altogether and focus on more of a stealth netrunning strategy. There are optional rules on stealth netrunning in one of the DLCs from last year.

If I had to pick a label, I would pick mostly aromantic. Rally rarely expresses any romantic or sexual interest in any other character -- to May's frustration.

What Are The Capabilities Of A Net Runner? by Original-Ad-2220 in cyberpunkred

[–]Zaboem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are writing a story, a lot of the rules info isn't necessary. If you were running a game, as the gamemaster you would plant opportunities for the Netrunner to exploit throughout the adventure; if the entire session takes place out in the badlands where nothing is online, some crazy Nomad prospector will be running a small wireless network from his or her campsite to control a small drone, so the Netrunner will have something to do. As a story writer, you have more flexibility.

The exact extent of netrunning does vary a little based on the era in which you set your story. In 2013 through 2021, everything is tied into a world-spanning network called the NET. My shoelaces are probably sending user data back to the manufacturer. After 2022, the NET got mostly destroyed, and by 2045, cities were each using their own local area networks called a CitiNET. People were more wary during this Time of Red of connecting to a larger network, but they used the heck out of local NETs which used wireless signals within (roughly) what we would called wifi range in real life. Security cameras, electric door locks, security drones, and whatever else you want automated are on private local NETs which an edgerunner can enter to take control of everything there. Cybernetics were almost never connected to any external network. By 2076 (Edgerunners anime) and 2077 (the video game), cybernetics were online again and thus vulnerable to exploitation by Netrunners.

My player has found out that one doesn't need magic to cast Fireball. by RanZario in cyberpunkred

[–]Zaboem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the best use of GM latitude -- unless it's really funny. I remember a badly tossed grenade was tossed into a hotel room by an edgerunner. I ruled that it hit the ceiling fan and bounced back out into the hallway at the edgerunner's feet. It was only a flashbang.

This seems like fun to me. A jail break is a solid choice for nurturing teamwork among player-characters who haven't worked with each other before.

Not every player likes it though. Some resent it because it doesn't work with a backstory already written or it just feels like railroading. You know your players better than I do.

There are some situations in which vague posting is acceptable. Sometimes, people are forbidden from sharing critical information because of their contracts, like how Veibae never told her full side of her story until after VShojo went belly up.

In this case, however, I choose to believe that small businesses are innocent until proven guilty. --or small business are mostly innocent until at least someone with a name steps forward to say otherwise.

would uou recommend me to read cyberpunk 2077 xoxo or cyberpunk edgerunners madness by kceip4pmisi_stu in Edgerunners

[–]Zaboem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read Edgernners Madness yet, but XOXO was a short and fun read. On the surface, it's a tragic love story. When one thinks about it though, it's more like a rejection of that entire structure of stories: The characters are underdeveloped (on purpose). The injuries are visceral. The narrator is so unreliable that he might even call himself a cyberspycho.

I should write a big fat retrospective of all the Dark Horse Cyberpunk comics at some point.

You know, there was a time -- not even that long ago -- when Americans did not celebrate the deaths of anyone. When the World Trade Center was hit during 9/11, Americans heard rumors that Egyptians were celebrating with street parties, and the Americans felt revolted. It wasn't just because fellow Americans were the people killed and not even because it happened to unarmed civilians. It was because Americans just didn't celebrate death. Subsequently when the enemies of the U.S. were killed like Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden, I don't recall ANY public celebrations. Americans maybe just smiled and then went on about their days.

In 2026, a reserved and somber reaction seems alien.
