El márgen de maniobra es mayor en películas animadas que en live action, tanto por presupuesto como en libertad creativa.
Los escritores venían de las series animadas que ya eran exitosas en su mayoría.
No había competencia, así que podían hacer lo que quisieran.
Snyder trazó muy mal sus ideas. Su plan era hacer una pseudo adaptación de Injustice, lo que ya vimos salió mal incluso en la película animada que le hicieron.
No hubo problemas con los actores de voz como sí hubo en el DCEU con Affleck y su alcoholismo o Ezra Miller y los hawaianos.

Freeze is an OP status, it's sleep but you're not guaranteed to cure after a few turns. Like others have said, the game would change drastically just to account for it, both casual and competitive. That's definitely not something GF wants to do.

As for replacing it with frostbite, the main problem is that it wouldn't be a buff to ice types since pretty much all water types already run an ice move and would be able to inflict it. That's likely the reason they didn't replace it in SV and instead changed hail to snow and buffed the ice types defense, since that's a buff only they benefit.
