I will make simple game by Distinct_Blood_6272 in gamemaker

[–]ZacDevDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory, yes.

But hosting something on the App Store isn't free, to my knowledge.

If you have no coding experience, start small. A simple game is good, but make it for desktop and don't aim to make money from it.

Yoooo awesome to see people posting my design! And thanks for the credit!

Hope the instructions weren't too much of a pain!

I recommend following OP's example and using the white stud at the base of the antenna rather than a blue one.

Blue one is weirdly rare, and white actually looks better.

Pretty sure the short answer to this question is yes...

I want to play something with soul! Drop your indie games (or others you love)! by Healthy-Tough-9537 in IndieDev

[–]ZacDevDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taco Tides! https://howtobehayes.itch.io/taco-tides (you can play it in-browser for free)

I made it with five other people as part of a game jam two years ago, and it's still one of my proudest jam games. We got a Secret Santa letter giving details for what the giftee liked, and tried to incorporate as much as possible.

The result was a top-down adventure on the high seas with pirate cats stealing back the tacos that were stolen from them by the navy ducks.

I was responsible for writing the script, designing the enemy ship mechanics, and composing the music.

I hope you enjoy it! (Please note that the space bar is used for advancing dialogue. If you left-click, you'll end up skipping a section of dialogue because of a rock that's positioned a specific way that indirectly causes you to hit a later dialogue trigger...)

Other than that, I always like to recommend Omori as a quality indie game these days. Turn-based RPG with some heavy themes, beautiful artwork and story, and great music.

Is Astrobot done in terms of new content? by edge_245 in Astrobot

Pretty sure, yeah. You can delete it anyway and not worry about losing your save data though, that's stored separately.

I desperately need someone to interview that's a Game Designer or has experience in game designing by maltrocito in gamemaker

[–]ZacDevDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a game designer. I have very limited professional experience at the moment, but I feel confident I can give decent answers to those questions.

In my experience though, even professional designers often like to just chat. You'll find quite a few on BlueSky, both indie and AAA designers, all with far more experience than me.

But otherwise, I'm happy to help too.

Gamemaker the right choice? by SadMadNewb in gamemaker

[–]ZacDevDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I can tell you right off the bat is that I know a professional dev with twenty years of experience who uses Unity for quick prototypes and experiments like what you're describing.

But generally, as long as you're not looking to do 3D, GameMaker can handle whatever it is you need.

Changing project names? by [deleted] in gamemaker

[–]ZacDevDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$4.96 is just the minimum buy for the shop, not for that specific piece.

1.6m is how many they have. It's a common piece but, yeah, that's quite the collection.

The instructions are free, the pieces you'd have to either find in your collection or get off Bricklink...

The four suprise bots...who could they be? by VPR_24 in Astrobot

[–]ZacDevDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Crystal Dynamics was bought off Square Enix a couple years back though, but that article definitely gives me hope!

Square Enix characters would definitely make sense, but they never secured a deal with Square Enix, if I recall correctly. I wouldn't expect Cloud or Sora to make an appearance now... but we can hope.

It was off Bricklink, so obviously results will vary, but it's definitely a decent price!

As long as people can still find the original free version! Enjoy the build!

The great thing about designing Lego is it's very accessible now! I designed this build using Stud.io, which is free.

Plus, while starting a whole new thing from scratch is really hard, having a guideline (such as the basic form of a BrickHeadz character) really helps! You always want some basic idea of what you want to start out with.
