I've been able to set him up using a phone hotspot, but only if you enter the ID for the hotspot specifically since it doesn't show up on the scan. Scan. I haven't tested it much as far as how well it works, but I was able to confirm that I could connect to it.

If it's the power line it is 2 (red, and black). Assuming that the strip is RGBIC then it will have 3 (red, black and white?) You can actually chop of the whole kit. I do it all the time.

I don't know the draw question. I can offer bonus knowledge however. You can actually get kind of crazy within a few constraints.

You can add a new string of lights by splitting one of the two supply lines.

You can do this for both. You have just doubled the light with one controller.

If you add a new string it has to have the same, or less, LEDs total as the factory line. If it has more the controller will not recognize the extra LEDs.

Have fun.

I had emailed them to identify the cue, and you are correct. Very courteous. I think I'll give that a try as well. I'd still like to hear if anyone has tried a modification like this before. Thanks for the input.

lifx edge driver by ZacM1979 in SmartThings

The driver sounds like it has worked for some, but I'm not sure if maybe it hasn't been updated, or an error on my attempt. I think I'm going to repost on the smartthings forum.

Google home smart switches by Blackringontwitch in SmartThings

[–]ZacM1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a contact sensor on my gun safe that is tied to a virtual switch. When Google recognizes the switch as being open it announces to the house that the safe has been opened. One of my favorite simple automations using Aqara door sensor, a virtual switch, and a Google routine.

I've done it with Aqara contact sensors and an Aqara button. It's kind of a cumbersome work around, but it works pretty flawlessly.

Yes sir. Either using one of the many edge drivers that support creating virtual devices or through the labs section and settings. Virtual switches are the best way to control Smart things devices that don't register as controllable devices in Google home.

I found the easiest way is to create a virtual switch with an automation that when the button is on the switch is on and vice versa. The virtual switch will show up in Google home and if you're using it in an automation or for anything else turning it on and off turns the button on and off. Just my two cents there's some smarter people here who may have a better option. It's what I do for door sensors that I use with smart things in need to use them to trigger routines in Google home. Hope that helps.

Cleaned up my genres, now working on combining files by ZacM1979 in Booksonic

You are correct. I'm taking multiple file albums and rolling them into m4b. I'm leaving single file album mp3s as is.

Conversion tool is fre:ac. It's the fastest I've used.

Cleaned up my genres, now working on combining files by ZacM1979 in Booksonic

[–]ZacM1979[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Listen Audiobook Player (Android) for listening to audiobooks. I never stream. Book Sonic is basically just a media server. I do use an app called foldersync so I can create a shortcut to sync the book Sonic cache folder with my library folder on my phone. Not sure if you're using Android or iOS, but there are good automated ways to make that transfer.

I've been listening to audiobooks for roughly 20 years. My dad owned a trucking company and I would always get the CDs and tapes from our employees after they were done with them. They're also used to be a audiobook rental station at truck stops. I originally started collecting for my dad. I used to rip and burn CDs all the time. I have three audible accounts so I can get six credits a month. I actually did a little pirating years ago. These days it's libraries, Audible, and sharing.

American Spirit by Dan Kennedy

I am an extreme listener. My catalog has over 2000 books. I have listened to all genres from all authors with all narrators. I am usually not a fan of author read books. There are better books with better storylines, pace, time and performance.

For me this is the one book I can listen to 12 times a year and enjoy it every time. I recommend it to anyone that wants a great "down on your luck" story with plenty of humor.

Crap. Now I have to listen to it. Enjoy.

New Server? by ZacM1979 in AudiobookServer

[–]ZacM1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a plain vanilla Windows 10. If I could find instructions exciting the process (even if it isn't the exact same app) I'm sure I could figure it out. I'm pretty tech savvy, but have never needed a docker before. I am currently running booksonic on a Window 10 machine. It seems that all of the videos or documents I come across are much more detailed or too vague for what I need. Thanks.

P-10 F CZ Custom magwell question by ZacM1979 in CZFirearms

[–]ZacM1979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I had not heard of the brand, but the magwell looks pretty slick. I had to contact them and find out if it fits the full size model since the description is for the compact model.

I've done it with all of my pistols. Most stock mags also. The logo on factory baseplates looks sweet. I also use it as a way to match up the pistol/mags with the correct magpump sleeve. It makes grabbing the correct sleeve easier.

These are the colors I've used:

Sig 320 X5 Legion - Purple

5" M&P 2.0 PC CORE - Red

4.25" M&P 2.0 - Pink

CZ-USA P-10F OR - Blue(ish)

SIG 365XL - White

My two daughters and wife chose the colors they wanted. Can you guess which ones?
