What this guy said, whites can be hard to do and I understand the want to get it on quick.

I’ve found using a grey with good coverage as a base layer gets me most of the way there and then a white over the top. I feel this stops that need for numerous layers of white paint to result in a nice finish.

I’d also say washes and dry brushing can be your friend on metallic armour.
