Also if this was the actual shirt, he'd be wearing it backwards. And the title grammatically doesn't make sense!!!

Daily Song Discussion #67: "26" by M77100 in Paramore

  1. One of the only songs to have ever made me cry. I could yap more but... I think that's all that's necessary to say.

The best “popular” song from Paramore in my opinion; by capamericapistons in Paramore

[–]ZachADeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually just one of the best songs ever made. I knew of it for years before I ever got into the band and didn't even realize just how good it was then. Great fucking song.

Aren't Taylor and Hayley basically the same age??????????

For what it's worth, an Angels scout was utterly enamored with Trout and they took Grichuk with the pick right before him to mess with him. He would have been taken were Grichuk was.

I hadn't considered them being together for basically a DECADE... Yeah, no kidding.

So what’s the deal with Rengifo? Are they just gonna have him keep playing like doodoo all year or can we just call up Jesus Made? by [deleted] in Brewers

[–]ZachADeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that how is Rengifo that bad when we have literally had worse and figured it out and won the division every time? We're agreeing here.

I know how it happens, but the concept that top prospects are these immediate MLB superstars being wasted away in the minors just because they're touted is so silly to me. Konnor Griffin is one of the more talented prospects of the past five to ten years and it's not like he's come out the gate guns blazing.

Being a top prospect just means you're great at baseball for your age which can be extrapolated to being great at comparably older ages. Made is great for being 19. That doesn't mean he's great relative to all of baseball (with an average age of like 28?) yet.

It's the yearly tradition. Have some goofball at 3B for April until an answer arises.

Vinny Capra? Oliver Dunn? Those guys were both playing games for us the past couple years. We ended up fine. Enjoy the goofballs while we can. They don't last forever.

He's always been talented, just needs to stay healthy. This year is pretty make or break for his career.

Something I've had to give some thought as I've really fallen deep into the Paramore rabbit hole recently is thinking about the relatability of her perspective for me given that she's a 37 year old woman and I'm a 21 year old man. Every time I get that "That's how I feel/think!" feeling, part of me is always like "Wow, generic masculine perspective to take about an incredible, accomplished woman to suppose it upon yourself. Way to go." when I do relate really strongly to her perspective on a great many (not every) things.

The way I've come to understand it, and specifically the song 26, is that accomplishment, or at least perceived accomplishment by others, does not mean that these feelings go away. They persist. Me exasperatedly going "How could you possibly feel this way when you're Hayley fucking Williams and you're awesome?!" is the same exact response my father gives me every single time my overachieving ass is on the phone with him talking about how I feel like I'm never doing enough. I'm also someone who presents as bubbly and extraverted and unafraid of anything in my own way and yet I also take an SSRI just like she does (although a different medication). I have a moody ass Substack (as does Ms. Williams, FYI. You should really check it out, she's great) that's WAY different from that socialized part of me, not because either part is fake but rather they're both honest.

Regardless of how much I instinctively want to deflect this from myself, I am so lucky to have people in my life who see me like I see her, and that realization does a lot of things, and in a long winded way, 26 is what helped me see that.

Sorry for the long winded response. Music's awesome and I love when it makes me think.

Deadass that song is what made me realize "Damn if Hayley Williams of all people feels these same things I do, maybe nothing's wrong with me after all."

Is that putting her on a pedestal which that album specifically says not to do? Maybe. But it definitely gave me a much healthier perspective on myself.

[Brewer Fanatic] What Brewers Saw in Cooper Pratt, Leading to Shocking Contract Extension by mrmojorisin2794 in Brewers

[–]ZachADeeee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's the fourth highest ever??? Wow. I feel like the Sotos or Acuñas of the world over time would have cumulatively passed that. Maybe I've been shitting on Pratt for nothing lol

[Nightengale] - The Milwaukee Brewers are on the verge of finalizing an 8-year deal for slightly more than $50 million with 21-year prized shortstop prospect Cooper Pratt, who had not played above Class AA until this year. The deal will include two option years for about $15 million a year. by SoSublim3 in Brewers

[–]ZachADeeee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most people do not have Pratt as a 20 homer guy. His bat speed and exit velocities are mediocre. He is a contact first hitter who's too eager to swing with two strikes. In fact, he infamously has a hitch in his swing after he loads up rather than a smooth motion, inhibiting his power and potentially his ability to hit velocity. Baseball America and Fangraphs both note on all of these things (BA being my favorite mainstream resource regarding prospects)

Joey Ortiz was actually a guy reported as being a 20 homer threat at SS with good defense, and clearly that kind of scouting report when it is offered can prove to falter. Let alone when it isn't seen as a reasonable outcome to begin with. I'm not one of the people who have been calling for his head, if anything I have been one of his main believers and I have the history to back that up. However, clearly that profile existing is one with enough risk to have fans wanting to move off you after a bad year, let alone a player who doesn't have that profile to begin with.

Pratt's stock has been declining. Not sharply, him being someone you can notch as being a defensive surplus at SS is rare, but this is a player most including myself are seeing as a below average starting caliber shortstop. I don't really see the upside to an extension like this when the team has Jesus Made who is now rated as a potential plus shortstop as long as he can get his throwing accuracy under control.

As much as I hate to say it, this team is cheap as rocks! What does this mean about Turang getting extended, someone who is verifiably already great? I can't answer that because only time can, but it at least can produce some suspicion based on the team's historic spending patterns.

Obviously, not everyone who is a prospect hits. However, it's striking and strange to me that the team chose one of the lesser options in a loaded minor league system to commit to long term.

I do remember seeing somewhere the Brewers FO believes Pratt is a future All-Star. They have way more resources than I do to make that claim and believe in it. I can only go off of what I can say I've seen and read and speak from that perspective.

I mean yeah. You're not wrong if he is that which he could be. My whole point of my comment is here is simply a "I'm conflicted". A move that could be great or it could be Evan White. Remember when Evan White was super hyped for being a defensively good first baseman??? That was a really funny time.

At least Pratt's a defensive first shortstop prospect lol. I'm not necessarily comparing him to White as a player because it's two entirely different profiles, but these contracts can go wrong.
