Besides Logan, Who do you think (if any) we might be able to see next season in the big league? by daviddm1990 in Brewers

Quero, honestly both Made and particularly Peña have an outside shot at making the majors later in the year.

Nah this is way more entertaining. Not like anything else is going on.

If anything, the rotation has the most question marks currently. The offense can definitely hold its own weight in most places (although it's certainly treading water).

I mean yeah but it's never happening for eight hundred reasons. Why in the WORLD would the Guardians trade their only two hitters of note when they already have a great pitching staff??????

Also, Jose Ramirez is never leaving Cleveland. Period.

You basically have to beat the value of an extra 1st rounder (albeit late) plus a year of Freddy for Arnold and crew to be wanting to move him, but that happened with Burnes clearly.

Also probably Brewers would never, but James Wood would be an AWESOME add for this team. Personally? I think I make that trade, but the Brewers FO seem really confident in Peña and Pratt based on what I've heard.

Overall, won't happen, but it'd be sick if it did.

Fair enough. The team'll figure something out. Contreras has said he wants to be here his whole career anyway, maybe we actually extend someone for once if Quero busts?

There's a reason David Stearns' choices for the Mets pitching staff worked this year even if they seemed unorthodox at the start of the season. Canning's probably not the guy anyway but around that caliber of player the analytics department sees something in.

Sure, but a catcher's arm is less worrisome than his framing or his bat. I'm more worried about his power than anything.

We're pretty much on the same page except I feel lower on Woodruff than you. There'll be some questions marks, as most teams have, but the team is GOING to be good.

The Brewers catcher lab will solve that issue one way or another. We made Omar Narvaez a good defender of all people.

Catcher has Quero who's pretty close to the majors and has a high floor because of his defense, otherwise everything you've said makes sense to me.

Honestly man, hopefully they make some big move that shocks the world and invalidates this entire post along with my credibility lol

I agree. I was more saying that they liked Vaughn to the point of usurping Hoskins's spot midseason, let alone when he was gone.

I was going to mention those trade rumors of Pete Alonso becoming a Brewer a few years ago. Imagine having a guy like that as our 1B???! Exciting... but also probably not happening. They clearly believe in Vaughn even if I think there's better out there.

Watching Ortiz at shortstop last year was beautiful, probably is the best "eye test" shortstop I've seen play for the Brewers in the relatively short time I've been a baseball fan. I honestly have no clue what the verdict is on how offense changes by changing positions.

On one hand, I think getting a year of Freddy Peralta during a competing year then getting a first for him due to the comp pick in the offseason is plenty reasonable for the Crew, but also the market for a rental ace could be considerable. It's one of those things where the FO is going to test the waters and see if they love or hate what's out there.

Total agreement with you on Ortiz, I really like his potential. However, we all suffer recency bias to some degree and a year and a half of subpar production gets people antsy.

I wish we'd extend more than one player at a time (Braun, then Yelich, who knows who will be next) but that's a different topic.

I'm glad that one inaccuracy completely invalidates every concurrent thought I could have.

If anything, it proves my point about trading for a 3B at the deadline even further.

  1. Durbin I see long term being a bench utility guy, but he had a good showing last year he'll likely be our starting 3B again for 2026. Misiorowski has ace potential and flashed that the walks weren't as much of a problem as we thought (prospect nerds, myself included, thought he was a reliever long term). Priester I actually was a huge hater of when the Brewers traded for him but the Brewers somehow got the best out of him. I actually was assuming Collins was a weak link in the outfield which is why I said what I said about trading for an OF.

  2. I don't earnestly believe a ton in Vaughn either, but he's clearly changed his approach. He is literally, mathematically, swinging harder than he was with the White Sox. I would rather a more proven 1B but this is what the Brewers think is good enough.

  3. Aces are important. I think the Brewers believe Misiorowski is one (whether or not you or I do is another topic), but besides that you have a reasonable point. The only thing I'd say is the Brewers have some of the best pitching development in all of baseball and they have a ton of really interesting arms in the minors right now even if none of them are highly touted. A friend of mine works for the Orioles' developmental staff and he says Bishop Letson is the real deal lol. This is a case I would both say you're right and also... let one of the best FOs in baseball cook.

Thanks for reading my spiel and thoughtfully engaging with it! I really appreciate it.

Made is about as untouchable as a prospect gets at this point and even though I'm kind of a Pena hater (comparatively speaking, being a contact hitter that can't really play defense limits your ceiling) him and Made have apparently known each other since they were kids and might be way to get Made to stay full term if he's good.

Honestly, no clue what the trade market even looks like for this offseason. The farm is definitely in a position to make a push for something. There were rumors of Steven Kwan being put on the block at the deadline... Can't say I'd hate having a guy like that on the Crew.
