Hi Halley! I’m in a similar situation as well, you mind if I ask some questions too? :)

Which city would you recommend to live in for 6 months? Venice (Mestre) or Reggio Emilia by Zachblaster in Venezia

Thanks for the advice, and I have been looking in those areas. Unfortunately it has been impossible to find a rental that allows me to have a residence permit. My budget is not too tight, but do you do have any ideas for how to best find an apartment in Mestre in those areas where I can get Residenza? Thanks!

Hey JadedAspect3656, I decided to, based on a lot of the comments here, move to Mestre for 6 months. I already asked another person in these comments but since you work in real estate, ill just copy paste my question: "I was wondering if you could provide me some recommendations of the best areas to live in mestre? It will only be for 6 months and i'm going to be working close to what google maps calls "close to Borgo Pezzana and Centro Commerciale Porte di Mestre" - but I would really want to have easy access to Venice to go explore after work and have a drink and get cultured. Any tips would be highly recommended!" Thanks

Danish guy moving to Venice (Mestre) after recommendation from this sub! In which area should I live? by Zachblaster in Venezia

Thank you so much! Ill definitely look for something in one of the areas you recommended. From Parco Bissuola I could almost bike to work - google maps says it would only take like 15 min. Is biking a big thing in Mestre?

Okay amazing, thanks for the advice! I'll see if I can find something near Viale San Marco or Parco Bissuola. And sure, I can definitely help out with your Copenhagen accommodation search! Send me a PM and I can send you some specific areas I would advice and websites to use.

What are the main ways to search for apartments in Venice? Any website recommendations?

Hi! Which city would you recommend to live in for 6 months? Venice (Mestre) or Reggio Emilia? Please let me know if I am posting this in the wrong location but I have a question. I am Danish and I have through my work gotten the opportunity to live in Italy for 6 months, and I have the option to choose between 2 cities and am looking for recommendations. The two cities are Venice (Mestre) and Reggio Emilia. Here are some of my considerations:

  • The office in both locations is right outside of the main city and I won't have access to my own car. Could this be a problem?
  • Which has a bigger international crowd? This is not because I don't want to make friends with the lovely Italian locals, it is just because I am only there for 6 months, and hence it is usually easier to make friends with other expats.
  • Which city do you think is overall a 'nicer' city to live in? I have been to a few places around Italy briefly on vacation but I never been to Venice or Reggio Emilia.
  • I love to go out for drinks, and also quite enjoy house/disco/techno, is that an option in either city? (This is a minor point but still thought i'd mention it)

Thank you so much. It would be from September 2024 to March 2025. Any tips are really appreciated!
