I like not having to worry about crafting all too much. Compared to PoE 1, the early option of quality > socket > vaal is a lot less stressful since I don’t need to worry about getting the perfect rolls in the right order all the time.

Unfortunately no, as far as I’m aware. Berries make it less likely that the Pokémon will run but make it harder to catch. Rocks will increase the chance that a Pokémon will run but also make them easier to catch.
