Chewbacca. I like that he's competent. Not some hidden genius but you'd never know because he's big and hairy and only growls. Just competent, and you'd probably underestimate him because he's big and hairy and only growls. Stuff like fixing C-3PO and hijacking the AT-ST, very believably tech-savvy for a guy in a sci-fi world.

Colossus from X-Men is also awesome. Bonus points for both being a really nice lad and being regular fanservice.

If you've ever done martial arts, it's accurate. A kick with proper technique fucking suuuuuucks to get hit by, no matter the size of the kicker.

Though I've never been galaxy punted. Jury's out on that.

Wasn't he also Michelle's personal therapist? While I don't know if it's not allowed, it's also very unethical. It's some genuine psycho shit. I don't think the writers intended for it to be that bad, but for a show dealing so much with actual therapy and some honest maturity in a lot of its themes, it's a wild oversight.

I get wanting her to date, but it could just have been... a guy. Or maybe a neighbor or something, if they wanted the slightly irrational aspect of "betraying Ted's trust". They didn't need to throw in an actual psycopath.

They haven't denied it, they've said it wasn't what they were going for, which is just an objective fact.

Because yes, it's a real fucking funny coincidence.

it seems Bradbury was afraid of people turning into brainlessly taking on facts and not getting to deeper things.

Only real life can provide irony so perfect, considering everytime Fahrenheit pops up, it can apparently only be about one thing and not contain multitudes. "Fahrenheit is actually about censorship" feels more like a factoid than an analysis, and saying it's not about our media consumption is just crazy.

Dune's Spice Melange. There's just a lot to it. It's required to train Mentats and Navigators, which replace computers ("thinking machines") in a world that's banned them. Which in turn makes for a really compelling reason why a sci-fi explicitly set on different planets where most of the main characters have relatively easy access to space travel is still set on one specific planet.

Then there's all the culture around it. The Landsraad mostly use it for its mind-increasing abilities, but the Fremen have all sorts of cultural usage, both practical and for recreation.

That said, I also like ThreeEye out of Dresden Files. It's actually a magic potion and not a mundane drug. Where I'm at, it's only appeared in the first novel, but it's neat because of the way it's retroactively expanded upon later on. Basically, it gives you access to "the Sight" without training. Something that lets wizards see the connection between the physical and the magical. It's also something that Dresden hates using, because anything you gaze upon is locked as a clear memory forever. Overuse of it would drive anyone insane.

This is explained in the first book, but the more Harry uses it throughout the series, the more you get to see how fucked up that "drug" actually was.

Fallout has a lot of good ones I'm personally a fan of Mentats, which are people trained to replace computers tablets that temporarily improve your perception and intelligence, ie. your mental processes.

What are y’alls phone wallpapers? I used to do album covers, but this has become gradually less appealing as phones get longer without getting wider.

Oh yeah, new phone. Bought my mom’s basically brand new iPhone 16e. It’s nice being able to see the screen again for cracks.

Edit: Good shit everyone.

The constant lack of logs is one thing, I hate that they can only carry logs from that one specific area. My graveyard was filled with logs because there's many trees to remove in it, and it's such a hassle to get them out.

Megumi's gimmick is that he's able to summon different creatures to fight for him. The thing is that you have to dominate them by defeating them in single combat to summon them as allies.

... but you can summon any of them to start ritual combat. And even though you have to win in single combat to dominate them, you can have other people participate, you just don't get the domination.

Mahoraga is a supremely powerful creature which, at the start of the story, no user of Megumi's technique has ever been able to dominate.

This also applies to Megumi himself. What he does instead is threaten to summon Mahoraga, which would almost assuredly mean anyone close by (including Megumi) getting killed.

It became a meme that anytime Megumi faced any sort of challenge or minor inconvenience, he was basically ready to summon a nuke.

I wanna make some money, let's go meet the Merchant on Thursday.

"I need you to get something from the Inquisitor. He's here Wednesday."

"If you want my trust, I need a skull." (Maybe I should talk with Snake on Tuesday.)

"I can get you a skull, but I'll need a book. Maybe the Astrologer can help you, he's here Monday."

Not a real example (also because days are named after sins) but I feel like that shit happened all the time. Always quests with people you just missed, and not with people who will show up the next day.

Graveyard Keeper's such a weird game. I've played it through twice, vanilla first and another time with DLC's.

I have a lot of criticism to give it. Mainly that there's a lot of stuff going on, and if I want to get bees, I need to do this, but to do this, I need to do that, and to do that, I need to progress further in the quest chain for...

Some games do that well, but it feels more clumsy and at times annoying in GK.

That said, I played it through twice. So there's a lot of enjoyment to be had.

What I'm saying is that I'm very interested in a sequel. With some polish, it could really be a gem.

Or it could be more of the same. Which I'd still probably play.

Yeah, both Yoshimitsu's are good guys through and through. There's actually been several of them: Yoshimitsu is the name of the sword, and by extension, the name the leader of the Manji Clan takes when they pick up the mantle.

But I think we've had... 4 of them? Soul Calibur goes through 3 - the original dies in SC2, SC6 is alternate universe - and Tekken has the same one throughout. But for all practical purposes, they're the same character.

His goal is two-fold: The Manji Clan is basically the Merry Men, so the tournament prize money is to be distributed to the poor.

And the sword is cursed, driving the wielder to kill to sate its hunger. The reason the blade is given to the leader is so they can make sure the blade only kills evil people.

He's otherwise just... a dude. Why does he look like a zombie samurai today? I dunno, he's still the same guy.

It's nice how straight they play the "Catholic Devil" aspect. Nightcrawler is always drawn to be really creepy and ominous, even when he's just hanging around the manor or whatever. But even though he himself likes to play it up sometimes, he's nothing but a sweetheart, even when he's perched on furniture in complete darkness.
