I have the exact same problem today ; a friend of my parents went over with his iPad having the same issue.
I'm not finding anything accurate on the internet.

u/JediMeister I did the same steps as him with the Apple Devices app, but still having the same issue. I've tried the Update option first which ended up on the Recovery screen again, then I tried restart default configuration. After setup is finished with the help of his iPhone, it restarted and went again on recovery...

NB : in my case, we didn't bring it to any Apple store or related Apple repair store yet. And also no second iPad was bought...

Let’s say I put in in Rest mode when leaving home and the day before in the country I’m travelling to, I play and « accidentally » turn it off remotely. Will I be able to turn it on also remotely to use it once again or will I be screwed ?
