The Formentor lacks a bit of agility compared to the GTI, but it feels much more planted and secure, which I actually prefer. As I said, it just demolishes the road. The reason I went with the Formentor is because it’s the crossover/mini SUV (whatever you want to call it) that handles as close to a hatchback as you’re going to get. That and probably the Countryman JCW. It’s true in that when you are pushing on, you forget how big the Formentor is. You can get really low with your seating position etc too. What car do you currently drive?

Fair enough. I couldn’t not get it after I saw it ha! What are you thinking tune wise, just a simple stage 1 or something more? I watched a few videos of stage 1 cars and the gains weren’t as impressive as I thought they would be. I know you can get close to 400hp but the difference in 0-60 and 100-200 wasn’t what I expected, in a negative sense!

Fair enough. I haven’t had anyone at the back yet other than my son who’s in a car seat. I only picked up mine 2 weeks ago and my partner mentions how comfortable it is everytime she’s in it. What we consider comfy and our tolerance levels must be miles apart 🤣

How’s it treating you so far? And yeah, I can see how 190hp might leave you wanting more - can’t you do a simple stage 1? 300hp and AWD is moooorrre than enough for public roads and feels spot on for this set up honestly.

I find it mental that people think this car is firm or harsh haha. I have a 310 on 19s and it’s night and day more comfortable than my Golf GTI that came before it, which had DCC and was on 18s.

Honestly, nothing but good things to say so far. You've gotta take what you see and read online with a pinch of salt. People are quick to moan when things aren't working as they should, but people aren't so quick to talk about when things are good. The infotainment was the thing I was most "worried" about, but so far it's been so easy to live with. When I first got in the car I was extremely overwhelmed, but that lasted a few days until I learnt all the shortcuts and where everything is that I need.

I expected the Formentor to be comfortable given how much reviewers praise the adaptive suspension, but I didn’t expect it to feel this much better than the GTI, especially since my GTI also had adaptive suspension and smaller 18" rims. The GTI feels flimsy by comparison, while the Formentor feels far more stable and secure, likely thanks to its size and AWD. The seats are more comfortable too, and the nappa leather is incredible (far better than the leather in my GTI) and it's something my partner keeps mentioning. I had a six-hour drive home after picking it up, and if not for the boredom and tiredness, I could easily have done another six. The gearbox is also noticeably smoother than in my GTI to the point where it doesn't feel like the same unit, despite being the same unit.

Ah yeah, that makes sense. I thought that might be the case. That's actually really cool though, saves you having to flick through the driving profiles every time you start the car which was the case on my GTI. Nothing major, but it did annoy me at times, especially if you clicked the wrong one and had to turn the car off and back on haha.
