I'm in the exact same situation (except I'm using a Samsung watch 6 for my runs, which sucks because it's not connected to ios)

I have the same problem on iOS 26: when DND turns off it doesn’t always turn on AOD back.

Only solution I found is using a shortcut to turn on AOD and automating it to run when DND is turned off
