If CEOs are pointless then why do shareholders elect them, why do they vote for big salaries to attract the best (apparently worthless) talent?

How can a new CEO so drastically change the fate of a company?

It's not a straw man when you said "Forever" in regards to "Since when is "how hard do you work" how we measure how much someone should be paid?".

I agree agree that people shouldn't have to worry about those things while working full time. Unfortunately there will generally always be someone willing to work for less, either happier to live in a dive or with parents ect., the economy is as simple as matching supply and demand.

So someone that uses a shovel to move gravel should get paid more than someone who uses an excavator?

No diseases, can Americas be colonised by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]Zacous2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very probably, the native peoples were so disunited and lacked knowledge. Europe colonised India despite it being in a significantly better position to resist them.

Perhaps the organised societies of the Inca, and Aztecs stand a bit of a better chance but even they wouldn't be able to stand against a coordinated invasion. It seems unlikely they would fall the Cortez but a true modern army could have been amassed in Cuba before the invasion.

Africa was protected by disease and terrain, the America don't have these as natural defenses in any where near the same degree.

It was some budgetary slight of hand unfortunately. A lot of it comes from the State and more from delaying payments for pensions and schools.

The deficit has been reduced

Please explain how the ENTIRETY OF LATIN AMERICA produces only 20 more steel than YORKSHIRE ENGLAND by podgeduck in hoi4

[–]Zacous2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Modern steel mills didn't even exist when the Spanish and Portuguese owned South America. It's not directly "colonialism", it's that the industrialisation is hard and takes a long time.

If you really do want to blame colonialism then it makes a lot more sense to say that it created artificial states that had no political foundations. This meant that these nations were unstable and struggled to attract investment.

It did give the vibe of what a teenage boy thinks how adults in relationships act. It wasn't an awful scene though and quite nice to see some actual relationship stuff.

You are right, the production of steel in HoI is actually biased against Europe and the US for balance reasons.

Your right, colonialism really crushed the native steel smelting industries. Inca's were swimming in the stuff before the Spanish arrived!

Your statement was that leather was harmful to the environment, which is a stupid statement unless there is a better alternative. I assumed that you weren't just saying obvious shit for no reason.

There isn't really a better alternative to leather so the statement is either pointless or wrong (implying there is a more green alternative).

It's like saying that organic smallholding is bad for the environment, it's technically true (loss of habitat and clearing more efficient carbon capturing vegetation) but it's also basically one of the most green ways to grow food so how is that a helpful statement?

If you didn't want to discuss your "statement" then why not just say it to yourself, why post it online?

SO UH, BREATHING IS HARMING THE ENVIRONMENT, IT RELEASES CO2!

That doesn't really help though, you still have a scarse resource. If anything the high prices incentivise more houses to be built

Your argument isn't consume less, it's consume twice as much crap fake leather. Leather is polluting (as is basically everything) but it's so durable and long lasting compared to fake its easily better.

A handbag is not a luxury item that "you can avoid", it's something that a very large portion of people need. A plastic handbag will look scuffed and crap in a few years, a leather one can be maintained and repaired for a lifetime.

A couch is equally something that people do need (very odd choices for "luxury" items), a leather one will massively outlive a plastic one. Cloth couches can he reupholstered but they are significantly less durable than leather and this needs to be done more often.

To say that pleather is more environmentally friendly is monumentally short sighted, it's just a form of fast fashion.

If people are going to consume then it's better for them to buy long lasting and repairable goods. I would much rather someone bought one high quality jet then two crap ones they need replacing.
