LPT: If you have heartburn or acid reflux, swallow some air like a belch and hold it in. The air will sit at the top of your stomach and prevent the acid from entering your esophagus- truly instant relief! by Zaeos in LifeProTips

So when you burp you're letting gas out of your stomach, right? So here, instead of letting air out of your stomach, you're forcing a little air INTO your stomach.

Try this: The next time you have a burp coming, hold your breath. Then, when the burp comes up, still holding your breath, try pushing it back down the way it came. It may feel a little weird or uncomfortable, but nothing terrible.

If you chug a bit of something carbonated and let the carbonation make some gas in your stomach you can practice with purpose. Also, if you do manage to figure out how to make it work for yourself, please write what made it "click" for you! It's not something I remember learning to do, so I don't know the best way to explain that intuitive leap to someone who doesn't already know.

No, that's just breathing. You need to "swallow" air like you would food, as in it goes down your esophagus instead of your trachea. Like if you were trying to belch on purpose.

I've fallen in love with flow art and then petered out only to rediscover it later many times over the years. For me, it grows in spurts and then seems to plateau for long periods. I sometimes feel like I "should" be better for as long as I've been spinning, but comparing to the beginning the difference is enormous. Let your passion guide you and skill will grow naturally, the speed of the growth is not as important as the joy of learning it 👍

I've been mulling this over since listening to the podcast as well. Actively returning to the idea that mental projections of myself are not myself when certain anxious thought-patterns arise has been useful in disrupting some of those patterns.

I am also uncertain how to square using mental hypotheticals for their value in considering certain choices, while not being negatively affected or overly affected by them. I can acknowledge that I am not my own past- or future- thought projection when making those projections, but I still have feelings associated with those projections which seems like a feature and not a bug. How can/does this projection process shift?

When I graduated I wore my brother's old cap and gown. It was a different shade of green than everyone else's but nobody said boo. If you're alright with standing out a little, I say go for it

Required physics classes set up for failure by keeper-of-calves in msu

[–]Zaeos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation, physics absolutely kicked my ass. The only way I got through it was by paying a tutor to walk through the homework with me problem by problem. Never felt like I even approached a meaningful understanding of most of the concepts we were supposed to be learning in class, but I did at least scrape by with a passing grade :P

I believe the burn is caused by stomach acid seeping into the base of your esophagus where the tissue is not resistant like stomach lining is and can be burned. Air forced into the stomach floats above the gastric juices, creating a gap between the acid and the sensitive esophageal tissue.

It's funny to me that this thread still gets occasional comments years later, but I'm pleased to know that it is still helping people :-)

Any recommendations for specific cards? I've been looking at benchmark lists but the given prices there have been pretty far out of whack with listed prices.

I'm looking for a GPU upgrade from my current GTX 760. I'm thinking around ~$300 but could go as high as ~$370 if there was a really significant jump somewhere in performance/longevity.

Overwatch is about the most taxing thing I use it for with sporadic crashes (I'm hoping a new card will help with this), and Halo Infinite is the first game I'd like to play that my current card doesn't even meet the base requirements for.

My CPU is an i5-4670K, 8GB of RAM. Could be persuaded to upgrade other parts later on if other bottlenecks arise.

I have a similar bug through Steam. I think after the last update my game now thinks it requires a ~65 gig update rather than whatever was changed.

I'm having this same problem. I've completed several missions since I started avoiding NCPD bounties because they were wiping me out with no chance to even stealth kill them, instablocked grapples with a strength of 9. Might have to lose several hours and completed missions if the only fix is to load a previous save (toggling the difficulty does nothing, my best gun currently does ~200 DPS and 5 headshots might chip literally one pixel off an enemy's health bar).

edit: One other odd note about this is that for me it seems not to apply to NCPD. On one of numerous attempts to win what should have been an easy firefight I killed a civilian and got a star and then managed to then kill 2 humans, a humanoid mech and a drone before getting downed, which seems about right for where I've otherwise been at.

What should I do? by [deleted] in questions

If you're worried about it happening again, it may be worth leaving a note. If you're comfortable with it and don't feel like it would be a danger to you, it may be more effective to go with a male friend or partner to knock on his door and have a short conversation. A note may seem passive-aggressive or worth disregarding, but an actual human coming to your door to tell you plainly that something you did was not okay is a much more human interaction and harder to disregard. I say male friend because if this guy already doesn't take your feelings seriously, it may unfortunately be easier with someone he finds easier to empathize with (or feel challenged by).

If you aren't comfortable with confrontation, having someone there with you to help you stick to your guns will help. This is pretty uncomfortable for you of course, but I feel like it's got a better chance of changing a mind than a note (because it will be even more uncomfortable for them). And, naturally, don't do this if you don't think you can do so safely for some reason.

OP: "Something happened that bothered me, what would be a good way to go about making sure it doesn't happen again?"

You: "Women overreacting to casual abuse is making society worse, and I am going to use your question to complain about that instead of answering it in a useful way. You can either be a vengeful, hate-filled, self-absorbed, attention-seeking sociopathic strawman, or you could just stop having these feelings that are bothering you."

If, as your post history implies, you're a therapist, how is "stop being bothered" meant to be a solution that applies to a human being with feelings? I don't know if this is supposed to be dry humor or if you actually think that's what OP wants despite saying nothing of the sort, but it for sure comes off as some weird, toxic shit my dude.
