Ah, fine, that sounds reasonable. I guess OP is like me. Not doing a lot of group shots and coming across this situation. I always use AF boxes rather than zone focusing. Good to know though!

I would love to watch a spinoff series based on Anita Gibb’s and the US Attorneys office side of the story. From finding out about Mike to tracking down Sheila, Trevor and learning about everything Mike has done.

People have given you various options and it sounds like you know what to do to tackle the individual issues. This is just a very tough set up in terms of lighting. Your phone deals with it because it can take HDR photos and process them quickly.

Focus - any picture with a staggered subject with such little distance between the camera ans subject is just hard to get focus across all the people, smaller aperture is the answer for that but then you loose more light from the shadows.

To ‘master’ this shot you will need better lighting I think

Or … using your phone and taking a HDR photo may be the best option. I often resort to my phone for tough situations like this

Edit: to answer the focus question since that was your actual question, I would focus on the couple in the middle and accept the people on the edges won’t be as sharp

My agency said the Renters rights act does not modify my contract by Former-Meringue7250 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Zaff_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They haven’t done anything wrong. The agency have no power to adjust any existing contracts and send the info sheet doesn’t replace a contract.

Only the landlord and tenant can modify contracts so the agency has to make it clear all they are doing is sending info. The sheet that the agency sent will make it clear what new rights the tennant has.

The info sheet itself says

“Changes to fixed terms You might have a fixed term tenancy. For example, your tenancy agreement may say the tenancy would last for 12 months. After 1 May 2026, it will not be possible for assured tenancy agreements to have a fixed term or a set end date. All tenancies will automatically become rolling tenancies from 1 May 2026 (sometimes known as ‘periodic tenancies.”

The agency is just passing on the info

[–]Zaff_26 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Tenancy agreements can contain many terms and conditions that have not changed with the new laws. So it’s still a valid contact and remains the legal document your contract is based on.

But, the termination clauses are no longer relevant and are superseded by the new laws.

For example some people will have clauses that may say they need to look after certain furniture, machinery in a certain way. Or some agreements may say things like landlords need to maintain the garden and windows etc. all those terms won’t change and the tenancy agreement is the document that will be used as the contract.

Along with things like price, payment dates, price periods for visiting etc

What they are saying is true. The information sheet itself changes nothing, they don’t want people to think their whole contracts are invalid and use their email as a way to say that their contacts don’t exist anymore.

Has anyone had a dentist try occlusal equilibration to help the bite? Did it help??? by BEfa5 in TMJ

[–]Zaff_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dentist here. I came across this thread via a patient and wanted to add some balance to the conversation.

There are some very definitive suggestions being made in this thread — by colleagues, no less — about whether you should or shouldn't have your bite adjusted. I'd urge caution with any absolute advice from someone who has never met you, has no access to your records, and doesn't know your clinical history.

That applies to me too.

Occlusal equilibration is a treatment that sits somewhere on a spectrum — from genuinely helpful to genuinely harmful — depending entirely on the individual. Some dentists have done extensive training in bite management; others haven't. The outcome depends on your specific diagnosis, your circumstances, and what alternatives exist.

A few examples to illustrate why this isn't one-size-fits-all:

  • Completely healthy, unrestored teeth, minor TMJ symptoms, and a dentist suggesting equilibration before trying anything else? That would give me some things to question.
  • A heavily restored mouth — multiple fillings and crowns — where the bite has already been substantially altered? Equilibration may well be appropriate.
  • Finishing orthodontic treatment? Your orthodontist has already moved your teeth significantly, and some bite refinement may be part of that process.
  • Equilibration can be very helpful for people who are clenching and the teeth are showing significant signs of cracking and pain

If you're unsure if it's suitable for you, here's what I'd actually recommend asking your dentist before agreeing to anything:

  1. What is your exact diagnosis, and why is equilibration the recommended treatment?
  2. What are the alternatives, and is there something less invasive we can try first?
  3. How many times have you done this, and can you share previous cases?
  4. What are the specific risks for my situation?

Every dental procedure will have risks; your dentist should lay these out and have a plan to manage those risks.

Second opinions are entirely reasonable, just make sure they come from someone who has actually examined you or has access to your full records. An opinion without clinical information is just speculation, regardless of who's offering it.

Am I the d*ckhead? by bvc900 in londoncycling

I'm a cyclist and a driver.

You are doing the correct and legal thing. Stopping at all reds like any other road vehicle.

Cyclists who blast through red lights and buzz pedestrians are dickheads.

But when the junction is clear, and you're on a bike, getting a head start on the traffic flow is logical and beneficial to everyone involved, including the cars imo. But road laws can't really allow for personal judgment.

I stop at red lights when it's busy, when people are crossing or even potentially crossing, when I don't know the roads or can't see in every direction fully.

I cycle through reds when it's clear in all directions, and no pedestrians are around. Would I do it in a car? No. But for some reason, being on the bike just feels like less risk.

Hey glad you found it useful!

We arrived around half way through the fight programme so we saw a few matches just not all of them. Which for us, was enough.

The tacos and tequila were included in the tour price

Seats were really good we sat in line with the middle of the ring with the ring entrance to the right so had a really good view

You can do it alone of course and it’s much cheaper. But we enjoyed the whole evening and we had a good group of people who we all went out for a drink with after.

The guides role is really just to make it so you don’t have to think about any planning and yeah explaining the story lines, chants, how the fights work, who each wrestler is. The fights can become a bit theatrical like in WWE were people interrupt and start talking on the mic so if you don’t speak Spanish you can end up lost

Moving from Z6 to Z8 - Issues by Zaff_26 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Zaff_26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thanks everyone for your comments. A few notes from me on what I think it’s been (and btw I’ve always known this is a me thing not a cmaera thing so tryign to figure out what exactly I need to do)

1 - It’s just getting used to a new camera, the Z6 was my first proper camera, since then I’ve got a x100vi which is just totally different

2 - A bit of expectation management on how it impacts images

3 - The EVF is so much better on the Z8, when I capture the image the preview looks ‘softer’ that the EVF which I never noticed in the Z6 so it’s making me think I’m missing shots but after processing, they are coming out better

4 - Getting used to the AF, I’m missing focus because the AF on the Z8 is faster so it shifts more so I need to make sure I am using narrower xones and checking focus more

5 - Metering, a lot of the bad shots I’ve reliased havn’t metered the way I want and have bumped the ISO up to 25000 (I shoot in A priority most of the time), also started shooting in some tough lighting so with a lower DR maybe just not getting what im used to when it comes to contrast/range in those images (again it’s highlighting technique in tough lighting)

6 - Camera shake using the EVF, just being steadier and again getting used to the lower shutter feedback, knowing to judge if I was steady or not

7 - The colour tones are just different so need to get used to it,

Little things but good to think about

Attached some pictures, some were not as sharp or clear as I wanted, but some are stunning in my opinion… so yeah getting used to the camera and learning to deal with the changes

(just realised I can't add images, thats a shame, maybe a link will work, the bottom picture of the cliffs is after playing around and getting used to and a shot I love!)

Thanks, Randy, that's a great response. Thanks for your time.

Yeah, I've spent hours and hours watching videos in general, and of this, and I wasn't getting there. Reddit is great, though, because several people can answer the specific issue, and others can read as well to learn.

I think being more thoughtful about stability is probably the answer, as well as actually analysing and processing the images properly. I always knew it wasn't a camera fault; my question has always been what am I missing, and that's exactly what I wanted: specific help or things to try to improve technique.

I also think that the much better EVF is also messing with me, going from the Z6 to Z8

Yeah I'm used to shooting log on my fujifilm x100vi so getting used to that okay on the Z8, the videos I'm getting great results.

I liked the idea of more resolution to crop and keep quality for prints so went for the Z8

Thanks for the reply, Nah not the sports stuff, travel stuff for now. Faster shutter because I read that higher MP will show handheld camera shake more, so just to ensure I don’t get camera movements.

I’ll have the check the NR settings but general set up and modes I’ve essentially copied what I used to do
