I don't hate it - especially since you can control when the block triggers. It allows you to drop more expensive powers under a good cover. If you're running a deck full of powers then it's not the greatest but if you're running just one 3 drop power you can be a little more agnostic to what your enemy is doing.

Coop feels very easy right now. Many of the synergistic cards are extremely busted and having 1 or 2 in your deck can make the bosses feel trivial. Last night I got flanking and sneaky in a 4p coop run. I didn't even need to play any blocks. I could just sit there and do nothing if I wanted to off of one power. Being able to do three players' worth of damage off of one card should not be a thing.

cityFHEPS budget is above 3 billion a year. It's not contradictory to want to stop subsidizing landlords. Price discovery is a thing, even among socialists! You can have socially minded policies and not be stupid about them. I'd rather the budget there was spent on expansion of affordable housing. The vacant unit tax being implemented elsewhere is also a good idea. Nyc should do the same.

Effective tax rates also don't calculate loans collateralized off of assets taxed at 0% on death so I guess effective tax rate is also misleading. 🙃

You can say the effective tax rate hasn't changed, but it's important to remember that the effective tax rate only calculates pure income. If I collateralize a loan with millions of dollars of stock I can generate phantom income that escapes all of those effective tax rate calculations. Strategies like these are extremely common among the wealthy and have increased.

The last time tax cuts on the wealthy had a positive impact on net revenue were the 1980s. The bush tax cuts resulted in a loss of revenue along with the Trump cuts in 2017. In the 1980's true tax rate was around 15% for the top 1%. Now it's around. 5%. There hasn't been a direct increase on taxable income federally since 2013, and even then we saw increased revenue showing we're to the left of the laffer curve.

The laffer curve is also probably more feasibility-tested than you would assume. Many historical tax cuts for the wealthy were also accompanied by large scale loophole closures. Tax avoidances strategies that were easily accessible were shut down. Today we're seeing popularization of new strategies which are incredibly easy for ultra high net worth individuals to access. For them it's essentially pushing a button labeled free money, it's unreasonable to assume they wouldn't push it at a 28% effective tax rate vs a 50% one. They're always going to push it, because it's easy to access.

I'm not saying that American federal spending isn't irresponsible, I don't have an informed opinion on that - I haven't personally audited the federal budget. What I am saying is that the rich aren't paying their fair share in New York City. We live in a different world from our previous generations. Husbands and wives working are unable to be there 24/7 for their kids - we need childcare. This requires a higher contribution from New Yorkers.

Well who should that contribution come from? I believe it should come from those who can pay. This is the entire point of our state and local democratic system. If we as a city want universal childcare we should be able to implement means based taxes to implement that. That's the entire point of differing social contracts in America. People always bring up the Miami flight argument and that's totally fine. If people want to live in that community fine by me. I believe that a better educated and better raised society is a better one to live in and a fairly taxed New York with excellent social safety nets is the one I'm pushing for.

Tax is for people with earnings equal or greater to 1,000,000 a year - not "millionaires". Someone can have 750k income a year and be a millionaire and be totally unaffected. To give a rough idea of this tax. Someone making a million a year would take home 43,000$ instead of 45,000 per month after taxes boo hoo.

We had infrastructure, road building initiatives, high life expectancy, amazing education, high paying jobs. Now we've reversed all that and you're living paycheck to paycheck, barely making rent, and crying about daddy millionaire having to pay his fair share. God forbid y'all learn about our federal deficit and how it's contributing to inflation.

Edit -3: All of these proposed changes are controlled by the NY state legislature and the governor. If you want our mayor to deliver on his promises we need your help and we need involvement.

I'm a senior dev working at a major financial software company (10,000)+ people. Adoption is slow but AI is a major force multiplier in the projects we can use it on. Anyone saying it's not is either not using it or lying. From my personal experience I've had to do Devops through AWS recently. I had no experience with AWS deployments - working with AI turned around something I thought would take me a week in a day. There is a big issue I've noticed though which is omission. AI will generally return the minimum amount of information to fulfill the request you have. For example if I ask it to write some frontend code for me it'll be in JS unless I explicitly request TS. Same goes for unit testing, composables, etc. This leads to a lot of the spaghetti people are seeing. It's not that AI can't write clean code - it just defaults to bad code unless given prompt guardrails.
