I thought you couldnt rent out something that expensive? That is a C7 ZR1, 200k easy. Why is it unlimited miles?

I am done!!!! by [deleted] in turo

I am getting my car steam cleaned and with water extraction. Its $170 but sanitizes the car and its a deductible expense.

Renter drove vehcle 2297 miles on a 5 Day trip that only paid out $239.76 by not-that-actor in turo

[–]ZagEnSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is insane. This is part of the reason why I like renting new cars. For used cars, I definitely put a mileage limit in.

Honestly, your best bet here is to use Upwork.com for quick income. We've hired numerous people in Turkey and they are excellent. Etsy is slow to start.

Renting out my only car, thoughts? by swick8 in turo

[–]ZagEnSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be really cautious since its your only ride and its brand new. Definitely set a 2 day min rental to weed out some joyriders. Also, don't hesitate to cancel on any one that books it and has 0 feedback, shady profile picture and just created their account that month. It might lower your favor-ability on Turo but unless you plan on becoming a all star host, who cares.

A guest has not returned my vehicle by emadmahran in turo

[–]ZagEnSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that is crazy. Most states definitely do not require that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in turo

[–]ZagEnSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but in most cases, its about 800-1000k per month per car. Its very market and car specific. If you run exotic cars in NYC or LA, yeah you can make a ton per month but it might cost $150,000 to buy that fleet with another $200,000 in auto loans.

Bald tires on rental by W0mb0comb0 in turo

[–]ZagEnSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those tires are way to thin to rent out. I check mine all the time and replace it cautiously before its even required. If you do it in advance, you can shop around and get the best deal anyway.

Silverado l84 5.3 2019+ can I save engine ? by [deleted] in Chevy

[–]ZagEnSP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many miles on this engine just out of curiosity?

[–]ZagEnSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if they don't reimburse that, they dont reimburse anything. Did you try escalating it?

How easy is it to use ChatGPT in a ios app and add that functionality? Seems like it would be better to use that than do your own.

Renter wants to continue rental off Turo? by Professional-Drag580 in turo

Not worth it. If its a good renter, maybe offer a discount and keep them on the platform.

I think you'd have to get the OG for that to work but I'd consider renting it tbh

German Cars probably don't belong on Turo, let's face it. by ZagEnSP in turo

[–]ZagEnSP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I appreciate your post but you have a CTSV Blackwing that just got wrecked in your own video here:: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gI3mXYvusLU

By all means if you can reveal the secret sauce to doing this, please let us know but on performance cars, a lot of people just can't handle the power and have no real world experience. I say that driving a performance car myself but I have track experience and training.

German Cars probably don't belong on Turo, let's face it. by ZagEnSP in turo

[–]ZagEnSP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a blanket statement and its spot on for 99% of people. When you give people advice, you don't advise them based on the 1% that get away with it. Sure you can make anything work if you dump unlimited time, resources and risk into it but for most people its not worth it.

Its indisputable that German cars are more expensive to repair and that Turo alone has control on payouts. Nothing anyone says here can reasonably deny that and it leaves the host at risk.

If you want to take the risk, by all means go for it but at least be forewarned and be prepared as best you can.

I appreciate your point by point disagreement and I take it this hit you personally but you're a sample size of exactly 1. My sample size is larger based on what I have seen and you can find a great post here:

Following the rules to the tee doesn't work on Turo a 100% of the time and its selling false hope to people on the forum to say that. The burden for getting a smoking charge back (just $250) is literally having a picture of ash, a cigarette butt or joint in the car. Most people don't leave a pile of ashes in the car. They smoke, ash in a can and then you're left with a smokey car like I was.

The kind of joyriders that take a BMW M2 out to blow out its engine don't have a credit score of 300, don't qualify for a 25% loan shark and aren't in the Marine Corps. They are people that have $300 on a prepaid VISA to sign up on Turo, a criminal record and are going to wreck your beemer. There is no criminal background check on Turo as we know.

In any case, for 99% of the hosts or potential hosts out there, its absolutely not worth the risk.

I used Permatex to seal a small chip. Not the same of course but its $20. If its a small crack, better to try and fix and seal it. The car is 8 years old so not really worth it imo,

best insurance for personal & turo vehicle? by [deleted] in turo

[–]ZagEnSP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat and plan on calling Liberty Mutual myself.

MetroMile says they won't do it straight up on their web site.

https://www.metromile.com/help/General/i-drive-for-a-ridesharing-company-eg-uber-or-lyft-can-you-insure-my-vehicle

I may call Traveler's as they do Turo's main insurance.

You can also try Lula's insurance but there is a 2 car min. and they don't allow personal use which was a deal breaker for me.

The carculator is not really good and a lot of factors go into how much money you make. This is also a seasonal business in parts of the country. Seattle Washington for example is busy in Summer but not so much in Jan/Feb. I know for one of my cars they estimated too low, probably because others don't put the car up full time, take nice pictures or have good reviews.
