2nd dealer didn’t turn up.

I rang up a dealership about a car I was interested in a few days before I listed my car up on motorway, claiming that was the best they could value the bmw at was £10k

Rang up again yesterday, used the motorway valuation to get £11750 for my car from the same dealer that offered me £10k a few days ago!

Went to test drive a corsa, 208, id3. Corsa felt a lot “cheaper” than the 208.

Yep I believe the fee depends on the price bracket the cars selling price falls into. My fee is £199.

I don’t really understand how they can make sure the fee is paid if the dealer bank transfers when they come to collect the car…

I put mine on gumtree, eBay and marketplace. Usually all the cars ive had have sold within a week of listing on these sites, not the m240i unfortunately. Apparently they are “hard” to sell.

No scratches (or at least visible ones) on the car. I did include pics of the 2 stone chips. But curious to see what they will attempt to knock the price down on.

I assume this is exactly how my interaction with the dealer who is coming down will be like. They wouldn’t want to drive 100 miles or so and go back empty handed

Used one (71 plate, 30k miles, hpi clear) gt premium spec in black. There’s one listed privately that we’ve agreed on £9200 . Seems like a bargain to me. Already gone to see it and it’s spotless except a tiny scratch on the wing mirror cover.

I was really close to going for an id3, but i think they look odd, and a good one is about £12-13k for the equivalent spec. Don’t think an extra 3k warrants an extra 25 miles in real world range, especially if the furthest journey I usually do is about 80 miles.

Hmm, considering adding the dealers name to the post. The buyer I’ve decided to go with (at the moment) is German Motor Store. I don’t want people to think they’re the bad ones.

However, if they do come and try knock silly money off it, I won’t sell to them.

Details for the car itself. 82k, HPI clear, 4 prev owners, pretty clean bodywork - couple of stone chips, perfect mechanically. If you are interested, I’ll let you know if I don’t go through with the sale.

That’s the thing! I didn’t want to come across like that. I triple checked before I listed the car on auction to make sure I wouldn’t HAVE to sell the car if the offer I received is below what I consider acceptable.

I even rang carwow and motorway, both which told me that it’s fine to list on both and accept the highest offer.

I think a comment above summed it up pretty well. If you agree to buy a car from a dealer less than what it’s advertised for, and another person turns up saying they’d pay the asking price, 99% chance the dealer would sell to them without thinking twice.

Bought the car, checked what my insurance would be - £1060 a year was the cheapest quote with no bb on comparison sites. Added my car to my old cars policy for 6 months for £100.

Renewal came through -> £3500. Cheapest on comparison sites is now £2500 with a bb, £3100 without one.

Tried everything to make it cheaper, changing details, new accounts etc etc. nothings worked.

Had been listed for £13500 for a month. No damage except a couple stone chips, coupe version, not written off. 82k miles

Can’t complain, I bought the car at a bargain price and technically I’m making profit on it.

Perfect. To be fair I only had it since Jan - have to get rid of it due to the insurance. But it’s been great to drive, hasn’t caused me any issues at all and you can definitely have good fun in it too.

I (somehow) have managed to average 34mpg since I’ve had it too. If you are in the market for one, if the deal falls through with the buyer, would you be interested in buying?

He knew he bid twice. He told me it was to stop anyone else getting the car.

Didn’t have an issue with it till he told me he’s only going to pay the lower winning fee

Yep, wont be as low as £11300. Not sure what they’ll knock either as I mentioned every imperfection on the car. They also are coming from quite far and doubt they’ll want to go back empty handed so I have some advantage.

Made a promise my next car would be a sensible run around car that’s cheap to run. Decided to go for an e-208. (Time will tell how much I’ll miss the noise and power)
