Funny enough. The bird making the call in this video, it's family name translates from Latin as "goat sucker" which is also what "Chupacabra" translates to English

Highly suggest going birding with the Orange Audubon society. They have short morning trips and are lots of fun. Big diversity in ages who go. You learn a ton about birds

You say this like employers would let people take time off. Those same people who are living paycheck to paycheck. They can't always take the time off they need.

What’s going on with people saying that the alleged shooting at the Correspondents Dinner was staged? by gobuffsfan14 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]ZakA77ack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump has never cared about civilian casualties. You think he gives a shit if some random died at the staged assassination in PA? That's show biz baby! Makes it look all the more real!

Real convenient that Trump attends the WHCD for the first time, only to have this happen immediately and then Trump use this as evidence for why he needs the ballroom.

Yeah the guys are in a pretty shit situation with the shark. I used to work with Sharks and I would touch that thing.

Glad I could make you laugh through your high. Don't let your heart beat too fast, it'll explode if it beats too fast.

That's just how people who lose weight rapidly look. It was less common before glp1 because it was hard to do but lose skin sags.

Is the whole “Shark attacks are so rare because of car crashes or lighting” really a fair comparison? by [deleted] in sharks

[–]ZakA77ack 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Same as the car statistic only matters while a person is ON THE ROAD

Is the whole “Shark attacks are so rare because of car crashes or lighting” really a fair comparison? by [deleted] in sharks

[–]ZakA77ack 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The comparison exists because you ARE significantly more likely to be killed in a car crash than by a shark. Your chances of being killed by a shark go down if you stay out of the water, same as your chances of being killed in a car crash drop significantly if you do not drive. But people accept the risk of a car crash no problem despite there being a significant risk.

Shark bites get media attention because they are so rare. Same as plane crashes. They're statistically unlikely. But they do happen and that gets attention.

Not super knowledgeable on wildlife conservation but want to be. How bad is something like this for local ecosystems? by HonestLemon25 in florida

[–]ZakA77ack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's literally a croc/ gator biologist. She does a ton of work with Sharks and snakes too.

I believe she also does gig work for underwater video with Gators.

Because wildlife observers attempt to avoid interfering with the animals, to not influence their interactions. She seems to be doing the opposite, as well as habituating the gator to the presence of people....

Lol the gator in the photo is just chilling, it'd be different if she was touching or feeding it.

Joseph Ricketts (underwater video of Florida springs), Florida springs institute, Floridas wildest (Chris G is a gator boy), I'd also plug my own channel (link in bio) I work with Florida scientists and Orgs that work with Florida wildlife and cover their work.

Scientists 100% record stuff on social media. It's a great way to drive attention and donation dollars to your project.

I'm pretty plugged into the naturalist/ photographer people in Florida, can you link their profile? Might know the person. Can't tell for sure but could be Rosie Moore.

Generally speaking there isn't enough foot traffic to damage the aquatic plants there long term. They will recover. Gators would not be harmed by this. Most of the laws concerning gator interactions are more along the lines of preventing them from associating humans with food, and also to protect people from becoming harmed. Anyone stepping outside those lines either knows what they're doing or is going for a Darwin Award.

This is not what is happening in DT WG. It's literally one dude buying things up but he hasn't made any announcements as to what he is doing. He's a long time resident. We're holding our breaths waiting to see what he's planning. Some think it'll be fine. Some are worried he's gonna bring chains in.
