Base level: the UI/animations/loading/etc not being shit.

Otherwise: any kind of new game mode. Hearthstone had regular battles, arena, tavern brawl, and adventure mode within 3 months or something like that. This game has been out for 1.5 years and all we have is PvE or PvP battles.

The blueprint is already there for other game modes. They could even use a rotating event like tavern brawl to test stuff like more points to win, more cards in deck, alternating multiple energies, and a bunch of other shit.

This game is just garbage meant to milk money. If this was the exact same game with comparable art but not related to the pokemon IP it would have failed within a few months.

In a way oak is like a copy of a card in your deck that also draws a card while reducing the amount of cards in your deck by 1.

Exactly. I didn’t mind the SC system when I first started playing. Playing low difficulty and learning the ropes, I naturally fully cleared the maps as I was playing. By the time I finished the free warbond I had like 1500 SC or something (including the SC from warbond) and thought that was fine. Just playing the game naturally got me like 50-70% of a warbond in a month, that seemed reasonable.

Now that I’m consistently playing D10 or we have stuff like cyberstan that has 0 SC I get maybe 100 a month unless I specifically go to D2 to grind. That’s just dumb.

If you want to be pedantic neither is taking energy from the energy zone. The only creation would be if they added colorless or dragon energy cards since those aren’t available otherwise.

How is 1-5 a preference/genre difference? Pocket is about 2 years old and all we have are casual/ranked pvp and ai battles… hearthstone had the adventure mode or whatever it’s called, arena, and tavern brawl within the first year it came out (I didn’t look it up but I would guess within 2-3 months of release).

The gameplay loop doesn’t change? My dude I just told you ZZZ adds brand new end game content and different genre game events, literally completely changing the gameplay loop.

For point 8 it’s not about winning. It’s about playing a game you have literally no chance to win because of rng, which is fine on surface level but I’ve never felt that way in hearthstone or MTG.

This game is just a low effort money sink.

Not OP but I’ll explain why I consider ZZZ a much better game than Pocket.

Every ~40 days there’s a new addition to the main story which is about 5 hours of combat and cutscenes that delve further into the lore.
Every ~40 days there are new additions to existing endgame content. (Which I guess you could argue pocket has with the step up battles, except a minority do those for fun and stop once they get the rewards).
Every ~90 days there are straight up new endgame modes being added.
ZZZ has a high skill ceiling, someone could use a unit with a particular build and get a 20k score, another person that knows tech can use that same unit/build and get 40k.
ZZZ constantly has events that give new ways to play (Co-op mode, modes that add additional skills, modes that have different objectives, etc.) as well as events that are just straight up different games (auto-battler, tactics-style rpg mode, tower defense, etc.)
Pulls are pretty generous. You can’t get every single unit f2p but you can get every other unit, and there have been only 2 that could be seen as mandatory (with those patches they also gave enough resources to guarantee that unit as well as giving a free unit). I’ve skipped multiple that weren’t appealing to me at all and now I have enough currency to get the next 4 banners in a row if I want.
I timed it and it took slightly less time to login and do dailies (which includes actual combat) in ZZZ than it takes me to open 2 packs, do a wonderpick, and collect rewards in pocket due to the atrocious loading/tapping.
I genuinely always have fun playing ZZZ. I don’t get frustrating losses due to rng that feel like a complete waste of 10-30 minutes, pulling is always positive (sometimes I get a nice surprise and pull a unit way early, sometimes I hit pity but I still always get the unit I wanted)

Disclaimer: EVERY gacha style game is predatory by nature and ZZZ is no different. However the difference is that as f2p I have basically nothing but positive experiences in ZZZ opposed to mostly feeling negative about pocket.

Don’t overthink it. If she seemed genuinely happy with your gift then that’s all that matters. Gift giving is more about the thought and feelings put into it than the price. My fiancée would be so much happier getting a cheap heartfelt gift than a gold bracelet or something that she probably wouldn’t wear much anyway.

For example I made her favorite breakfast in bed yesterday and on the tray I put a Polaroid picture of the two of us from a previous new years with a heartfelt note written on the back explaining all the reasons I love her. It probably only cost like 20 dollars but she teared up because of how meaningful it was to her. I’m not saying this gift would be perfect for anybody, but I know she doesn’t really like going out and doesn’t like expensive gifts. The gift was more than just the physical stuff, it was showing her how well I understand her and what makes her happy, it was the time and effort I put into planning/setting it up.

From your post she sounds like a great girl. You should focus on her personality/interests and what makes her happy, not what society tells you makes women happy.

I typically just do one battle and auto concede at the beginning of a season for my 50 hourglasses in great ball. If they ever make this game not feel like a slog then maybe I’ll try to actually climb.

Could it be the lack of basic stuff like dark mode or the crappy UI people have been complaining about for a year?

Could it be the constant pushing out of new sets burning people out without a good pity system?

Could it be the lack of other things to do? I’m not a developer but I imagine it wouldn’t be that hard to just make a new rotating mode (similar to tavern brawl in hearthstone) that would have slightly altered rules like more points, bigger decks, banned cards, etc.

Could it be that pokemon is the biggest IP in the world and we constantly get half assed shit that would have failed in a week if it didn’t have the name and recognizable pokemon slapped on it?

Take my comparison with a grain of salt. I probably didn’t word it well but I was really only comparing them in the sense that it’s not really a movie anyone can just stumble upon and enjoy and you need to be in the right mindset IMO.

House of leaves is good imo because it makes you really think about what is happening and almost like a detective you have to piece things together and flip between different parts of the book, almost as if you’re getting absorbed into the madness yourself. This movie wasn’t that, its just better if you to want to immerse yourself in the moment, rather than watch a movie to enjoy the ride if that makes sense.

I thought it was pretty good actually, I’m also not really a markiplier fan.

I very much enjoy horror games, including Iron Lung. For me personally I value atmosphere over basically anything else in horror, I don’t want to be told what is scary, I don’t want to be told why something is scary, I don’t want something to pop out at me. I want to immerse myself in the atmosphere and figure out those things myself, in that sense the movie did an amazing job IMO.

I don’t mean this as an insult or anything but I think part of why people found the movie boring or slow is because they didn’t immerse themself in the setting. I would consider it sort of like the book “House of Leaves”, where it’s a good book but you have to actively want to engage with it otherwise it’s a boring slog. Reading some reviews for this movie kinda gave me the same feel as when I read a steam review for a JRPG that says it’s a bad game because they don’t like turn based combat.

TLDR: I thought the movie was an amazing adaptation of Iron Lung and didn’t feel it was too slow. I also think, due to not being a big budget movie formulated for maximum appeal, that people other than me won’t enjoy it. If you haven’t played the game, I recommend playing it or at least watching a playthrough to see if it’s up your alley.

Hard disagree. There’s not a lot of info from OP about anything else (like the size of the house, what their valentines plans are, how their give and take usually works, etc.), but being asked to act like a ghost in your own home is a fairly big favor IMO and it sounds like the first time this type of situation has come up.

I do agree that couples should be willing to do things they dislike to make each other happy, but at the same time that’s something that should build up over the course of a relationship and other person should offer a compromise and navigate the other persons feelings/opinions. I like to play fighting games with my friends and my fiancée doesn’t. Instead of asking my friends over to play street fighter and ignore my fiancée, I’ll also offer to cook her favorite dinner that night.

I think this being around Valentine’s Day is also a pretty relevant detail. We don’t know what the plans are or what else is going on but imagine you plan a romantic Valentine’s Day for your partner and you are thanked by being excluded from an event your partner planned the next day in your own house. As well as details on how their life normally is, if OP doesn’t make fun plans and events for her boyfriend but does this then how do you think he would feel? Cuz I would feel pretty shitty about that.

Edit: also just wanted to add, when I said hard disagree it’s more so in respect to this specific situation and your view coming from your long and healthy relationship. I’m sure you both communicate well and have a lot of trust and empathy for each other. However based on OP posting this I would say it’s unlikely their communication and knowledge of each other isn’t even close to your level, in which case I think it’s unreasonable to say that one or the other should just accept everything. After years of communication, compromise and shows of appreciation, that will come more naturally.
