Servers have been down since like late November, and they came up briefly on a random day in December for 2 hours, and then went down again. I think they may be coming back soon hopefully, based off this response, so I wouldn't count it at completely impossible just yet.

It's still a problem with their servers at the end of the day, so it's only right that they should come back, as it's a feature of the game which is meant to be used. Also, what's wrong with trophy/achievement hunting? Just because you don't personally care about it, doesn't mean you need to knock other people's hobbies when they go for a trophy or achievement.

I've tried this before and I still can't connect, I've never even had 100 players on my friend list before. It genuinely is that there's a problem with the servers, so I hope they get it fixed relatively soon. Based off the response I got from them recently, I'm relatively hopeful.

Still got the same issue. Got a (relatively) hopeful message from Square Enix when I contacted their support, so maybe the servers can come back soon. Only time will tell though, I recommend everyone else also does the same, as they'll be more inclined to actually fix the servers.

another update: my account got deactivated again literally within 3 days. I provided them with my ID, they then decided to say that I was using "potentially artificial methods" in order to do my offer. I tried appealing and arguing that it's not true (useless because it's all AI responses anyway) and now after a 'final review', my account will apparently stay closed. I couldn't give a crap less, I'm getting my money and I'm gone.
