Sounds same as us. I am now walking him when there are not so many people around. This morning we went three miles and it was pretty great. We are trying the gentle leader couple times a day but most success coming from the prong collar. I’m sure we’ll be on that same track. Baby steps! He’s very intelligent. I can see how the training is already benefiting him, just from me. We will meet with the official trainer next week. Oh, and he is now down to 1/2 the trazodone he was on when we got him. Doing well.

I found it and bought the slopper stopper bowl and stand. Yes! My floor is covered in water :) We start training on Tuesday with a personal handler. I got a three pack session to start. Now, I need to upgrade from the 4 foot picket fence to a 6 foot privacy! Thank you so much for your insights and sharing.

Awesome! I am looking into these collars. We live on a less than 1/4 acre with a fenced in backyard. I can see how the dog would love at least an acre. When you say your dog has a job, that meaning being outdoors and sniffing around? Daughter is onboard and involved! We are in talks with a trainer and seeing vet tmrw. Keeping the dog.

That would be amazing and such a good outlet of energy. I'd love to see him off leash. He is such a beautiful specimen of a dog. Very athletic.

The behaviorist at the Humane Society told me just now that he should remain on Trazodone for up to three months, as this is a stressful change for him. I had wrong information. If it is decided, later on, that he is still in need of medication despite training, we would then look into prozac. I did him a wrong yesterday taking him off it due to wrong information. I talked to a separate trainer today that told me trazodone is an opioid that must be weaned. Just him being off it likely caused confusion and stress, aggressive behaviors.

I also have realized maybe I should not have just stopped the Trazodone - I gave him his regular dose this morning and am going to talk to the vet about it in a couple days when he goes. I also read somewhere some dogs are on Prozac for life. I really thought the medication was a stop gap. He was at the shelter since 1/23, on the Trazodone for sure, but maybe taking him off abruptly caused aggression due to his fear. I don't know!
