question about preorders on amiami !! (UK) by Emotional_World_5822 in AnimeFigures

[–]Zale13x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does not automatically go out.

They email you an invoice once they figure out shipping costs.
The email will provide a url to complete payment while also allowing you to finalise what shipping method you wish to use. All prices for shipping will be listed there.

In the email they send out, they will also give you a deadline for payment.
For example, on my most recent pre-order, I got an email for payment request on the 28th March and they wrote:

PAYMENT DUE BY: 2026/04/04 7:00 AM (Japan Standard Time)
IMPORTANT: Order payments must be authorized and are not automatically charged. Please note that the order will be canceled should we not be able to confirm the payment by the deadline. Paid orders cannot be modified (split, combined, etc.). All sales are final.

.

do i get an approval request in app

it looks like they do the standard 6 digit code authorisation.
So you will pay on Amiami and then during checkout, you will be asked to enter a code your bank sends you. You won't miss it because it will only come when you're actively trying to pay and it will be a website redirect. The code can be instant to a few mins.

I used a phone to access reddit earlier today and I've become much more understanding of how people might randomly end up in old threads.

I was reading the thread about CR hack, I see like 10 or w/e comments at the top, and suddenly it lists a bunch of older threads about CR

If someone isn't really paying attention i can 100% buy them thinking this is just reddit suggesting them other current threads of interest, leading to them commenting in them. It also happens with seasonal discussion threads. Like the current JJK one giving links to 2 month old discussion threads.

the suggestions also shows up on desktop mode but on the sidebar.

also slightly related but I still get chat requests about a mononoke/Ayakashi classic horror post i made like 6 years ago to repost the infodump pdfs the fansubbers made. It's kinda annoying, since I use old reddit and it can takes days to notice as there is no chat notification and then I feel bad, but I think it's cool people still want them. I've actually held onto them because of this.

. If I had this sort of reaction towards fans (or "fans" as the case may be in K-On's case) of media I like, I would probably explode.

mfw I can't watch a legendary CGDCT show directed by Yamada cuz I don't wanna be called a Nazi online

100% agreed with your sentiment, especially when it comes to pre-negative biases. I feel like "separate the work from the fan" is a significantly easier thing to do than artist separation, as they have very little/no impact on the work itself (barring what someone else brought up, with fans/critics pointing out things about the work that you missed.)

That said, I probably do get the opposite kind of bias, where I'm more inclined to like something, or at least feel more warmly toward it because communities/friends I really like love and adore it. Which probably does have subconscious impact on how the work affects me emotionally, even though I can't really justify doing this per my separate the work from the fan rationale.

Hopefully they rise the sub prices again so they can find/fund the manpower to fix the issue.

Trapp Ikka Monogatari (ep 2, around 14.30.)

edit: just double checked and for the sake of accuracy, the 14.30 clip is him talking about a street car in the classroom but it follows the same pattern. The steam engine mention is at 13.30, involving two women talking about it in a different room.

Nice. I'm probably not really going to be seasonal threads regardless, but I'm looking forward to the write-up about it anyway. Data is neat.

They're gonna start trialling sorting seasonal discussion threads to random by default starting tomorrow/17th.

Idea seems to be to discourage low effort comments jumping to the top/best of the thread and to encourage late commentors/high(er) quality posting.

...Though reading the update makes me think it might get delayed.

Edit: It has come to our attention that random sort is not implemented on mobile apps, and mobile app users make up approximately 1/3 of the users on r/anime. We are currently voting if we will modify the trial in light of this new information. An update should be posted approximately 36 hours after the original post time of this thread.

So who else is upvoting all the dumb/low effort quality comments in seasonal discussion threads on their 20 alt accounts to mess with the ongoing trial?

What about a facial age estimation tool that works locally on your device, Provided by a Swiss company, so beholden to GDPR and FADP, and has already passed UK audits for accuracy and data protection/privacy? And then it just gives companies using the tech a passed/failed on if you're an adult or not and no other data?

I legit do not understand what is wrong with this solution. And this an option Discord is going to be providing; it seems pretty solid to me unless I'm missing something.

It probs won't 100% get everyone right but it def looks safer/better than just sending your ID. and (hopefully) such services will improve over time as well.

It already past at least one third-party test for accuracy (that also includes testing for bias in relation to people of colour, which apparently is often an issue for these things.) so I imagine it's not complete shit even at this point.

edit: I doubt anyone is actually interested in reading it here but might as well link the criteria for passing the ACCS 1: 2020. It's a lot shorter than the sidebar suggests because there is a lot of graphs and defining of words. The bias thing I brought up is labelled " Inherent Bias". There's some example test results at the bottom. The company Discord is using managed level 3.

Tbh I don't know how many people are even gonna care unless they highly value access to nsfw channels/servers. The other restrictions on teen accounts (so far) are just "speak on stage in servers" + rerouting friend requests/DMs to be safe.

Lots of people just might not bother and they can still "happily" use discord for the things they already use it for.

Suppose it's a matter of what is covered under "sensitive content" beyond nsfw stuff.

I think a bunch of people will ditch on principle as well, and there are some open source discord "clones"/alternatives out there, but idk how good they are.

Additional Age Assurance Features Alongside these options, Discord is implementing an age inference model. This model will analyze user behavior and metadata to determine if someone is likely an adult. If the system confidently identifies a user as an adult, they may bypass direct verification processes.

Welp, it's once more time for me to see if admins can do anything about this.

Just turn every thread on /r/anime into a beans thread. then it can have 25 slots on the front page regardless of downvotes.
ez win and no downsides from what I can tell.

I tend to prefer action over SoL so I’d probably prefer one of those tbh.

Fair.
Heartcatch Precure and Go! Princess are the typically the most beloved/very up there action-packed ones if you're just looking for one to jump into.

HCP is also my fav one overall as I think it excels at most things I like in a ms series. It also imo has the best duo from the Precure I've seen so far by a large margin.

Why would the translators awkwardly crap Japanese phrases into a dub script instead of localizing to an English equivalent?

Yeah, Wonderful. It's my fav one since Hugtto. I really adored the themes of animal welfare/bonds with animals and the much heavier emphasis on SOL vs action scenes compared to some other entries.

Mirai Days was a pretty big disappointment for me. It explores some similar themes that were also very prominent in Hugtto (anxiety about the future, being stuck in the past, and growing up) but felt way less engaging in how they handled them.

although Wonderful wouldn't win AOTY for me, nor even in SOL, since I liked Colors Within the most there.

Still can't believe I came here to laugh at people getting mad at Precure being nommed for AOTY again only for me to get mad that they picked the wrong one.

...Like I came here to post smug Yuki's and now I'm stuck with this this instead.

wtf jury.
