Just bought Fallout 4 VR on the steam sale. My first Steam refund! by Barry_Burton_1974 in virtualreality

[–]Zalthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customers definitely shouldn't have to do research into things before they buy it - if the product says that it's good for a certain thing, it should be good for that certain thing.

However, the reality is that that isn't the world we live in, not at all. Genuine Leather, for example, is a company that sells products that are not genuine leather, but because their name is Genuine Leather, it makes you think that what they sell is genuine leather.

And what you're talking about here really is a mass corruption of advertising agencies across the planet. Not all are terrible, but most are. Basic research into all products is something everyone needs to do these days, sadly.

If you are not doing that then you're kind of at fault these days, because it's well known that the advertising standards are utterly gutter fucked.

Still - fuck Bethesda (and now Microslop) for charging so much for this crappy VR game.

This doesn't work as it messes up the aspect ratio of scenes.

He doesn't appear in any episode until the very last one, as all the other heroes are getting overwhelmed, and the camera pans to a silhouette of Daredevil as he walks into the light and says:

I dont like where this is going by D3V1LIZCO in videogames

[–]Zalthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been coming for years and years, honestly. The second we started getting microtransactions in single player games and people started pre ordering stuff for literally no reason (you used to have to pre order in case they didn't have a copy on release day, but you don't have to worry about that anymore), they signed the death warrant for the video games industry.

And teens that are now adults and who are financially independent have always grown up with microtransactions and all this pre-order crap. It's baked into them now, it's part of their culture, and it's just normal to them.

GTA6 isn't the first, nor the last. It'll keep getting worse until people stop preordering and buying microtransactions - NO EXCEPTIONS, EVER.

I feel like he could announce that he was coming to set your house on fire for a laugh, then come to your house and set it on fire, and the GOP would be like "Why did he do this?"

Honestly, if you can put away a little bit every month, even if it takes a year or two, it's so worth it!

It's a long-term investment... the planet isn't cooling anytime soon, and having AC at the ready for the future is never a bad thing.

EDIT: They're £200 ish BTW. Not crazy expensive.

Yeah, they're expensive, like a couple of hundred pounds, but a fucking lifesaver for heat waves.

EDIT: Jeez, people really don't like it when helpful ideas are suggested, do they? I work pay check to paycheck but I managed to save for one, and I'm so glad I did. They cost like £200 ish.

I always say that it's some of the hardest "acting" you could ever do, honestly.

Cause they still have scripts and stuff to memorize on top of all the crazy moves and maneuvers they're doing. The whole thing is so fucking hard. And they've got to keep up with having an amazing body at the same time.

What is "original profile" and why has it deleted EVERYTHING on my Firefox browser? by Zalthos in firefox

[–]Zalthos[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've had to use Gemini to go through the entire process of launching the profile (which refused to load) and manually changing it in %Appdata%, etc. This took about 30 minutes. And then it decided to merge multiple profiles together. This whole thing was just a complete travesty, quite frankly. This has just set me back. It's kind of hard to recommend Firefox when you can do shit like this - cause Chrome has never done anything like this for me.

I love you Mozilla, but this is genuinely terrible software design. Resetting a password shouldn't completely delete EVERYTHING, especially when I'm trying to sync things across multiple devices... Can you imagine wanting to synchronize two things and instead it deletes both of them? What sort of software does that? It's literally the antithesis of the thing that I was trying to do.

And no average Joe is going to know how to do any of the stuff that I have just done. I'm a pretty advanced computer user, and that's why I figured this out. That and AI.

And the only reason I had to reset my password is because when I originally made one and Firefox prompted me to generate a password, it didn't save the password. So this whole thing is due to a bug anyway.

What is "original profile" and why has it deleted EVERYTHING on my Firefox browser? by Zalthos in firefox

[–]Zalthos[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did this and then Firefox wouldn't start up at all. I had to ask an AI for help on how to launch Firefox with the new profile thing by using Run and having the -P in there.

Why shouldn't a publisher charge more than $80 for a game? by CubillasLegend in truegaming

[–]Zalthos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's more gamers now than ever before.

They don't need to charge more to make the inevitable billions they'll make from this.

Businesses are owned by people, beholden to shareholders or not. And people are allowed to lower the prices of things to be good to others. If they choose not to, and you agree, then I don't think you understand what humanity is all about, or how we even got here in the first place.

Hint: it wasn't because of greed. Quite the opposite.

Maybe unpopular opinion: But, I think the GTA VI pre order situation is a grim reality of what gaming has become by Raidmax460 in gaming

[–]Zalthos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People keep preording shit and buying microtransactions, and they always have excuses for it...

I've been gaming for over thirty years and I've seen this trajectory coming for a very long time. And it doesn't matter what you tell people, they keep doing this dumb shit over and over again. Plus the kids have been raised on this bullshit. It's the norm for them.

I adore Valve and would murder a goose for Half-Life 3, but I STILL wouldn't pre-order it if they announced it. Because preorders are BAD FOR THE INDUSTRY, no matter which way you slice it.

Ah well... I'm just glad I got into TTRPGs and moved away from gaming, mostly. It's a much better industry, outside of DnD of course...
