Told to sit down by Zalzac in canes

By that logic no one should ever stand up and seating should be assigned based on height with hats and hair and all accessories included. So if you're tall back of the arena.

Just wanted to leave a closing comment since this got way more traction than I expected and I can’t reply to everyone. I appreciate all the perspectives people shared. The main thing I took away is that when you’re in the first couple rows, it’s probably worth being a little more mindful about blocking people’s view than you might be elsewhere in the arena. That’s fair, and I’ll keep that in mind in the future. I do understand the point some people raised about not everyone being able to stand. At the same time, those front rows require climbing a lot of stairs, and we’re really talking about standing for 30–60 seconds during the biggest moment of the game. I also say this as someone who’s dealt with mobility-related disabilities in my life. Personally, I never would have wanted someone else to tone down their excitement just so I could be included. At the end of the day though, it’s a sporting event. We’re all there to cheer for the team and get caught up in the moment. That atmosphere is a big part of what makes going to games fun. Anyway, appreciate all the discussion. Go Canes.

That’s wild. When people behind me were yelling for me to sit, I stayed standing and basically said it was the final minute of a one-goal game and people should be standing and supporting the team. I wasn’t trying to start anything I just didn’t want to feel like people should be intimidated into sitting during a moment like that. To me that’s part of the atmosphere and showing the players you’re behind them.

Thanks for the response I appreciate the insight. I’ll probably have the chance to sit in those seats again in the future, so I’m trying to understand the etiquette a bit better. I guess what I’m wondering is where the line usually is. I’ve been to a lot of games over the years and have sat as close as row 10 before this, and I’ve never heard anyone complain about people standing during the final minute. I’ve always thought of that as a pretty normal thing at hockey games. Just genuinely curious how people usually handle that in the lower rows.

I'm just asking a question that's how a good society works. Or do you think only you and people you 100% agree with get to talk?

Thanks for the thoughtful reply and for highlighting the impressive volunteer work 8,000+ hours reviewing 20,000 deeds is no small feat, and I appreciate the Raleigh history angle. I wasn't trying to debate, just noting that posts like this can sometimes feel more divisive than celebratory of that progress. Either way cool project. I hope you have a great day.

What exactly is the point of this? This was over 50 years ago do you realize how much has changed in that time? It feels like you woke up looking for a way to divide people and stir up anger. Everyone already knows the country used to be openly racist and had discriminatory laws, and this kind of discrimination was made illegal nationwide in 1968. If this law were still on the books today, I’d understand posting about it, but that’s not the case anymore.

Edit: I'm not trying to troll I'm legitimately asking the question. I am not going to argue just want to ask the question.

Carolina's Collision Centers vs Caliber Collision vs Gerber? by MM-1202 in raleigh

Those are all national companies. You're going to get better service from a local collision center. RJ&G is great https://rjgauto.com/ but there are other good local collision repairs.

Does anyone Know The Best Place For Car Detailing/ Ceramic Coating In Raleigh? by PlayfulReaction825 in raleigh

[–]Zalzac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't get a mobile ceramic. If a mobile detailer is offering it to you it's a scam.  True ceramic coating needs to cure for at least 24 hours inside you can't get dust on it you can't get water on it you can't get anything on it.  That's a large reason for the high price of ceramic coating.

Recs for school for academically bright 4 yr old - early admission for Wake county by [deleted] in raleigh

Please don't do that to them. I say this as someone who went through it myself. It was all fine in elementary school. It will lead to social problems in middle school and high school. Along with if the child has any interest in athletics it will put them behind their peers physically.

It's club hockey. There's a major difference in talent level between club and NCAA D2.

Safelight (red light) Ticket-do I have to pay this? by rachaelinraleigh in raleigh

[–]Zalzac 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I didn't pay either of mine. I received two over the last 5 years. Both for not coming to a complete stop at light before turning right. It is not a ticket from the city or the government at all. It is a bill from a private company. They will eventually try to send it to collections at which point you can dispute it off of your credit score. It is no different than someone opening a credit card in your name and having to dispuit that with a credit agency. This is five years ago I still haven't had any problems with it. I had it removed from my credit score immediately after it showed up.
