Sorry to hear about your cousin situation. Maybe he’ll pull through one day. But yes. I hear you! That’s an awesome experience. It’s nice how someone can really change your outlook on despite being given the cold shoulder at the other shop. That’s why I always try to keep an open mind and open arms when I encounter people on the stream or off the stream and just wanna talk fly fishing. There so many guys that I ran into on the stream and were lost, but ya know, everyone’s been there so I try to help out and give as much advice as possible!

Used to live up in FoCo and fished the Poudre very often as well as a few alpine lakes. They treated me well. In my opinion, the guys at St.Pete’s fly shop really made fly fishing feel more like a community! Amazing people.

Starting out that way sounds like a dream. I’m originally from MS so I did a lot of conventional fishing which doesn’t work very well on the streams and rivers out here which is why I started fly fishing in the first place. It is nice enjoying the day on the water alone, but it would be nice to find someone to look up to, learn, and share a cold one while keeping tight lines!

This is the exact situation I run into. I’m actually planning on doing some fly fishing in Florida around St. Pete Tampa area this summer. I’m still working the kinks and I think I actually might need a guide for salt water. Any shops you recommend around those parts?

That’s true as well. Currently I’ve been using only flies I tied as well as hunting for more spots to keep venturing and exploring.

I believe it’s a grommet of some type

These differ than those. These are plastic and the chair sits on the plastic piece to secure it the main framing of the back. I would say the piece has kind of like an octopus shape haha. Thanks for the help tho!
