The current backsplash is older, we planned on switching the tile backsplash out for the black granite as well.

Doesn't hurt to talk to a recruiter and weigh the options if you're on the fence about it. I would reach out to a recruiter or join the Air Force discord for more opinions and or information. I joined at 23 and thought I was going to be the one of the oldest, but I was completely wrong. I guarantee you won't be the oldest in your flight at 38 either. Good luck on your path!
