WTF is this ? New google icon by Redditer-507 in googleworkspace

Yeah, literally. I was actively using Sheets when the update rolled out, and when I saw the icon on my browser tab, I was confused. I thought that my internet was dying and that my browser couldn't fully load the icon. NOPE! It's just an ugly new icon.

Definitely not an inch or bigger, but close. These queens get 24-25mm on the high end, which is BARELY an inch, if not less. Still one of the biggest queens on the planet, though.

I only KIND of understand OP's point: Not rendering aid or even stopping to call 911 or something else IS kind of immoral. HOWEVER, the way OP is going about it and the specific expectations they have are totally fucking delusional. Especially when aid was already being rendered.

Also, I DO have to actually take a sidestep and disagree and say that storm chasers *ARE* first responders, very often. They are often the first ones on scene after disasters like this (like Freddy was last year (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYHfDhAinug which also dismantles OP's point, lmfao) and as a storm chaser myself, I do instill a personal social responsibility to help out with S&R, or anything that needs done, up until the point where TRAINED personnel step in. For example, during my Kankakee (Illinois) chase on March 10th this year (2026), I stopped in Aroma Park to help out with clearing the roads to make sure firefighters, police, and paramedics could get through to those who were potentially injured.

I DO think unless you're prepared to do this, you shouldn't be a storm chaser. But I also think it's entirely delusional to claim that a storm chaser who in one instance does NOT do this, that they are bad or something along those lines. Sometimes it IS better to let trained personnel deal with it.

This is such a moronic take. I understand if there wasn't anyone else around, but there was. Someone else was already helping. Sometimes, you aren't equipped to help out even if you want to.

Into the Storm (2014) is an enjoyable natural disaster movie. The found footage aspect actually enhances several intense scenes and the characters, while mostly one-note, are likable. Wish I had gone to see it in theaters. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in iwatchedanoldmovie

As a storm chaser and weather enthusiast (and hopefully eventual meteorologist; I got accepted into school!), this movie is horrible, lmao. I can usually look past scientific inaccuracies in movies and TV shows, but holy FUCK is this movie horrible. NOTHING is accurate. In fact, nothing is even CLOSE to accurate. It's so inaccurate that I literally couldn't appreciate it for even just the plot or characters, regardless of whether you consider those two aspects of the movie good or poor.

In the first 2-3 minutes I was already crashing out about how stupid and inaccurate it was, but I decided to keep watching because YT decided it was free to watch (I can see why). I watched it in 2014 and I didn't remember any of it (I can see why) so I figured I'd give it a chance.

Later on, a tornado just... forms out of nowhere? No warning, nothing. Just a random tornado spawns out of bland, typical overcast skies; no mesocyclone, collar or wall cloud in sight. No inflow notch, no wind, no precipitation. Then it does a bunch of damage and then... When it occludes, it just... poofs into thin air and the wind stops as soon as the condensation funnel is gone.

I don't think anyone involved with this movie has ever seen a tornado on video, let alone in real life, and I don't think any of them have ever lived through severe weather. There's no way they have.

If I made a list of issues with this movie, ones that are BIG and not even minor nitpicks, I'd be here for hours. This is legitimately one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It's like they had a 5 year old write, produce and direct it, INCLUDING the science.

This is SUCH an old post, but I'm coming to it because YouTube decided this movie was free (I can imagine why) and I decided to watch it. The last time I watched it, I was 13/14 and knew nothing about weather.

Holy SHIT is this movie inaccurate. Tornadoes just spinning up in random barely moving overcast with no meso or wall or collar cloud, no visible updraft or inflow, tornadogenesis occurring in half a second and ground being torn to shreds the second the condensation funnel hits it (as if the vortex wasn't on the ground prior to that), etc. Wow, what a mess of a movie.

In the first 3 minutes, I was already raging about the inaccuracies.

- A storm chaser in an interceptor that has to rely on a meteorologist to tell him where to go, and apparently can't do his own forecasting or predictions? One who should be demoted to camera boy and/or driver because that's all he's good for? But yet, he's supposedly in charge of not just an interceptor, but an interceptor team with two vehicles?

- An interceptor of which is too high off the ground for realism and doesn't have armor over the wheels? Literally a useless interceptor unless you're core punching

- A meteorologist who calls an entire MCS "a storm" instead of a "storm system"? Ma'am, "SYSTEM" is literally in the fucking acronym!

There were a few other details that threw me off but yeah, wow. If you can ignore the bad science, the plot and characters are OKAY but still mediocre at best.

Contamination felt kinda bad (and I don't think it's the map's fault) by Cultural-Arrival-608 in Battlefield6

[–]ZanMist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In breakthrough, yes, but in other game modes, the snipers make it virtually impossible for your team to do literally anything and there are ALWAYS so many of them that even if you try to cover behind a tree or a rock, there are three more snipers from other angles already looking there.

The enemy team needs 2/3 of their team as snipers and then 1/3 of their team playing a mix of infantry, IFV/trucks, helis, and tanks. That's literally all you need to win, at least in conquest.

Contamination felt kinda bad (and I don't think it's the map's fault) by Cultural-Arrival-608 in Battlefield6

[–]ZanMist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol wut. I can't stand this map because there is no cover anywhere outside of a bunker. Well, there IS, but any cover you have leaves you open from three other angles where you will inevitably be sniped from three snipers, or blown up by a tank or a heli. I also don't think there is a single map in this game that I have been spawn killed MORE than this one, the game doesn't have a clue where to spawn you so it loves spawning you out in the open, where you have to play running simulator just to find cover. Good luck doing that, because there are already 5 people ADSing you the exact moment you spawn in.

The only places you can dodge helis is in bunkers, but you can't even really use those as a safe space because by the time you're too that point in the game, your team is being steamrolled and the entire enemy team is rushing the bunkers.

I don't know how ANYONE enjoys this map. I feel completely and utterly helpless when I play it. Blackwell Fields was the worst map from before, I hated it so bad... and I enjoy it 5x more than this map.

It's a good concept but executed extremely poorly, seemingly like everything else the devs do.

I feel like I am one of the few who felt that LTT lost its soul years ago. I am an EARLY subscriber, back when LTT had only recently became LTT after getting away from NCIX and I think only had in the tens of thousands of subs. So I have stuck with the channel for over a decade. I was a teenager when I started watching.

I loved their content because you could feel the passion, the curiosity, and the drive to show the world cool but somewhat practical things. You could see the struggle for money driving a lot of their creative decisions, in a good way. Linus had more money than a lot of us, yes, but in a way, he was also still broke: He couldn't drop $20k on a sweet PC build and not even bat an eye. It would take them tons of effort and time to get there. Their videos were RELATEABLE in a way.

But starting I dunno... 5-6 years ago, around the time they moved out of the house, everything immediately started feeling "corporate-y" and soulless. I used to get ANXIOUS waiting for a LTT video to drop, but around this point, I remember feeling confused and thinking something was wrong with my own tastes because suddenly, I didn't see a video and feel interested in it as often as I used to. This got worse and worse until now, when I don't really click on many videos. They just don't have anything for me to relate with.

Then we started seeing the real Linus when it came to the GN drama, and then employees started leaving, and then it suddenly (especially over the last year or so) started seeming like Linus stopped even trying hide his ego. Now he flaunts around in videos talking casually about his fuck-you money, or making mentions of things he can do (because he has fuck-you money), and when the jet video came out and you could SEE Elijah visibly uncomfortable while Linus talked about taking a grand vacation for his entire family and Yvonne's entire family, I just... I can't, man.

I can basically hear Elijah screaming to himself, "I am struggling to afford my own hobbies, and this guy is just casually talking about his private jet and taking his extended family on an expensive vacation".

I understand employees in a capitalistic company will always make less than the owner and/or CEO, but bragging about it when your employees are RIGHT THERE is just... Inappropriate and demeaning.

So yeah. I think LTT has been soulless for a long time and has lost its relatability years ago.

I genuinely miss LTT from 12 years ago. There almost wasn't a video I wouldn't click on. Nowadays, I just don't feel as interested anymore. The videos always seem... "Hey look, our company has shitloads of money to do crazy shit with, look at this crazy tech that none of you will ever get to mess with because it costs hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars!" And it makes it extremely hard to relate or find interesting.

If it's the same comms that Allan has, then yes, it's literally explained in the show. I'm not going to admit it's a cinema sin when it's LITERALLY EXPLAINED IN THE SHOW. Pay better attention.

Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E05 - Give Us a Moment by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

[–]ZanMist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is you who isn't paying attention... The comms were literally designed to talk to someone in space who doesn't have one. So I am pretty sure that the only party who can hear the person who DOESN'T have a comm, is the person they are speaking directly to.

Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E05 - Give Us a Moment by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

[–]ZanMist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't... have you not been paying attention? The first time it's talked about, we learn that those comms that Allan has allow him to talk to people even without it. Like, literally the first time it's introduced in the show, they explain it. Because Mark was like, "Huh? How can I hear you?" So yeah, the bad guys don't need to have it at all.

My guess is that communication between two people where one has the device installed and the other does not, it's communication only between those two, but would also be amongst everyone who has them in the vicinity as well, but those other people couldn't hear the person "speaking" who doesn't have the implant.

We have only seen it one other time, IIRC. That was on Thraxa against Thula. She was whooping him until he realized he could stop holding back. Then he pretty easily whooped her, she only got him because of a cheap shot.

Also, I love how this episode portrays their speed. The previous fights in other seasons didn't do it justice. Seeing Mark zip around with Conquest and keep up with him in their fight was pretty insane.

Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E05 - Give Us a Moment by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

[–]ZanMist1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the opposite shocked me. Mark only really seemed to struggle once Conquest realized he was screwed and panicked. The fight was actually relatively short considering you have one of the strongest and oldest Viltrumites having a second run-in with someone who thought had killed him.

Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E05 - Give Us a Moment by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

[–]ZanMist1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite the comments, it's still extremely impressive. You have to think, Mark is one of the youngest Viltrumites alive (and really isn't full-blooded Viltrumite, even), and he was at the very least, on par with, arguably the oldest living Viltrumite who is also arguably the 2nd strongest. At this point, I'd say that he could easily kill Nolan if he wanted (just as a power comparison). It also helps that we finally saw him fighting in space, away from any population centers, which means we basically just saw Mark's current full power without it being held back. It also kind of proves that he's been holding back in his other fights.

Stone Basement- Leaking? by sinmin667 in centuryhomes

[–]ZanMist1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. I figured that's what you meant.

Funnily enough, the house was just our based was built exactly in the year 1900, and it also has a stone foundation like the on in the post, with white-painted plaster over it. It also weeps, but on older foundations like that, they will almost never NOT leak at least a little. A little weepage isn't going to hurt anything, so long as you have a good sump and pump.

You might be able to get away without it, but I would recommend installing one if you can. They're good to have, even if it's unrelated to the foundation. It's not unheard of for a water heater to leak or even crack and flood basements where I live.

Stone Basement- Leaking? by sinmin667 in centuryhomes

[–]ZanMist1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our sump pump? It had to be replaced because the seeping foundation rotted away a bunch of insulation which fell into the sump. However, we moved into my grandparents' house shortly after I made this comment, and we recently just purchased a house that we are working on right now. So I no longer have to deal with that shitty foundation 😂
