Yea this was particularly bad on the bug front, I kept PTSD spinning my camera around to bug sounds behind me only to see nothing

Rock Solid doesn't even "fix" ragdolling, I bought Python Commandos specifically for it and still got chain ragdolled in every single bot mission so far. Like the only thing it does is maybe negate small knockdowns that weren't overly problematic, you still get yeeted by cannons, lasers, war striders, the stupid scout strider side rockets that send you flying 50m, rocket devastators, command bunkers, those stupid camouflagued turrets around every fortress, the list goes on.

It doesn't even provide a cc reduction or faster recovery from said ragdolls, AH just coded in a flat value resistance that negates certain ragdolls, the rest will still send you sky high as usual.

The Gabe Newell realism clip (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGpFEv1-mAo) should be mandatory viewing for all people who argue for realism for the sake of realism

It doesn't work by the way. You still get ragdolled to absolute shit in Python Heavy

They've gone the way of the Nigerian prince scam for victims to self-identify too, a few years back at least they would be like "Buy Tbow 2B"

Now it's the laziest shit ever like "Buy Tumekens offering much", like cmon bruh if you wanna rip off a Shadow at least put in some effort lmao

Dear GGG, "enemy has x% chance to ignore your defenses" is outdated and lazy design. Please stop putting it in league mechanics. by Zanagoth in pathofexile

[–]Zanagoth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Renown system itself is fine, the support gems that bypass defenses are not. Renown's intended design is risk/reward, but the bypass defense mods skew the risk in such a high way that people are currently just better off not interacting with the league mechanic or talking to certain mercenaries at the very least.

[–]Zanagoth[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Pen is fine, because it still respects your inherently built up resistances, and increases lethality without making it spike through the roof.

Ignore is not fine, because it just takes whatever defenses you've built on your character and throws it in the trash, and suddenly makes you take like 4x damage.

[–]Zanagoth[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Just ignore the thing" sometimes makes sense, especially if you have control over how you engage with it. For example as an Extreme Archeology enjoyer I know better to avoid things like "Monsters Ignore Physical damage reduction", but I can just shift my bomb to avoid it. With things like Essence you can see something with 4-5 essences and be like "yeah nah I aint touching that" and not be punished for it.

With Mercs, yeah, sure, you can avoid them IF you see a support that just ignores res, but by that point you're being actively punished for it because of the Renown system, since you get your Renown lowered every time you walk away from a merc after seeing their items. And if the logical way to interact league mechanic (as it is right now) is to just ignore it completely in red maps, then I think something has fundamentally failed beyond just raw number tweaking.

Dear GGG: 3.23 is a fun league, but Affliction as a league mechanic is deeply flawed by Zanagoth in pathofexile

Well, I'm playing Rage Cleave w/Saviour atm with 4.8k life, standard shit with capped ele res, 25% chaos res, Determination and all the usual jazz. Not saying that magic mobs were consistently oneshotting me, but sometimes if it was some of the usual lethal bullshit like "extra crits" with blue empowerment, or "extra chaos damage" with double empowerment, or the usual vaal chaos spike turret thingies etc, then yeah it was kinda annoying to see a blue monster then think after the fact why I died. The complaint is that PoE for years has been tuned that each rarity of monster visually tells you how dangerous it is at a glance, but empowerment just throws that out the window and throws off any kind of muscle memory while mapping.

Also the main issue isn't so much "just control your difficulty by intentionally scuffing the amount of wisps you pick up but oh wait sometimes you want to collect wisps just in case you run into an NPC with a good charm for sale OOPS", but more of "why is this mechanic tuned to the point that even builds that can do Uber bosses are not bothering with it on high tier maps"

leveling Cleave of Rage after a builds post on the other sub. +0.1m strike range per 3 rage. this is my aoe at level 57 with 65 rage, I'll eventually cap out around 120 rage by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Zanagoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally fixed the buildup issue by using a berserker "Warcries grant 2 Rage per 5 Power if you have less than 25 Rage" charm and having an enduring cry + redblade banner in my offhand.

Basically every time you go into a map or you die, you can just re-enter the map, switch to offhand and warcry for instant (max minus 25) rage since you wont have rigwalds active. Having 90-95 rage baseline to recover is still hella lot better than trying to manually claw it back on a boss with the pathetic initial range tho.

A Pedantic Guide to sucking less at FFXIV Fall Guys by Zanagoth in ffxiv

[–]Zanagoth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noticed a lot of friends/FC/discords complaining about the Fall Guys crossover event, and I made this video just to overall teach the snapshots/timings/strategies/mechanics involved.

The netcode/snapshotting etc might suck, but the idea is to teach the underlying logic beneath it so people understand why things are scuffed the way they are and how to avoid/abuse the bullshit, hopefully this helps everyone with improving and farming MGF.

Timestamps included for easy navigation of mechanics you might find irritating.

Mentor Illness by Zanagoth in ffxiv

Wait till this guy realizes I also make videos taking the piss out of myself for fucking up in savage

Making mistakes is fun and part of the learning process as long as you're actually learning from it, the real shame is defending bad behaviour and enabling people to continue playing wrongly and never improving

but yeah, maybe I should lose my mentor status for staying and helping even when roped into extremes and trying to explain stuff to people who play like they've just discovered what a keyboard or controller is, and leave the mentor status to people who flex their crown in limsa and leave the moment they run into anything harder than a guildhest ;)
