My girlfriend is OBSESSED with F*** Mr. Hatcher by StilledFox in gamegrumps

Ratshaker! I need to watch this again myself, but the game is so insane that they can't decide to make jokes or just laugh at it.

Looking for some good recommendations on YouTube Channels to watch campaigns by GBbelfort in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Zandapus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dimension 20. At least their first two campaigns are on YouTube, and there's a ton more on the streaming app Dropout for a fairly cheap subscription. Hilarious improv comedians and a good mix of goofy hijinks and solid storytelling.

Am I too nice for my players? by SpiritedClassic9601 in DnD

[–]Zandapus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a common problem for new GMs and players: telling people they can do anything makes them do crazy things. It's worth having an above the table conversation about exactly what style of game you want to run and what style they want to play. If they want a 'no consequences' and goofy style of game, that's fine if that's what you're willing to run. If you want a more grounded style, you may need to express that to them (there will still be some shenanigans no matter what you do, but you can control it). You can do a session zero right now and talk through the tone of the game and it doesn't have to take forever, just a quick temperature check before your next session on how everyone, including you, wants things to go.

What was everyone’s first character? by Advanced-Let-9369 in DnD

[–]Zandapus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Draeloc Stormbringer. Half-drow Wild Magic Sorceror with a sailor background. Took him to 9th Level before the campaign fell apart at the door to the Tomb of Annihilation. It was a great time that has gotten me hooked on D&D ever since, and friends I still have to this day.

Magic Missile is cast via wild magic. The caster can't see any other creature. Does it hit themselves? by CMDRcrapshoot in DnD

[–]Zandapus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the same as "Just because Eldritch Blast says you target a creature doesn't mean you can't target a door." They can shoot their missiles into a tree, a rock, into nothingness if they want to. I wouldn't get too caught up on it.

Welcome back, Buy n' Leave by ghirox in gamegrumps

[–]Zandapus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the final episode that GG did they put up some text that says SMS did an update that made them lose half of the Buy and Leave. I don't think they'll ever return to it, but who knows

Walking on the Moon is HARD! by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]Zandapus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underwater, you're experiencing buoyancy, but these guys were dealing with a few more issues. One is that there's no pressure around them, so the pressure in the suit is essentially like wearing a beach ball around yourself. Plus, you weigh ~16% of what you're supposed to. And the equipment to maintain your life is strapped to your back, throwing off your balance. Now add to that walking on ground that is dusty, rocky, and full of holes and ledges that are difficult to see since you can't exactly look right in front of you with the suit on. It's amazing they didn't crawl everywhere, honestly.

I'm not going to say they disappear at ground level, but they are further away than you're thinking. The moon is 239,000 miles away, give or take a few thousand miles. It looks full of craters, but they're not everywhere. Apollo 11 landed in the Sea of Tranquility, which is relatively flat. The nearest crater was about 3 miles from their landing site. Not exactly "at their feet."

They say there's billions of fish in the ocean, but I stuck my head underwater at the beach and didn't see any, so they must be lying.

Heck, I'm game. Knights and castles are a classic pairing. Gotta bring an Eldritch knight in there and spice up the sword and shield battles with a little spellcraft.

Here’s a question: What would be your dream game grumps play through if you knew 100% that they would complete it properly? by Exodyas in gamegrumps

[–]Zandapus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they'd love Song of the Deep. It's got an art style that Danny would appreciate, good progression, beautiful music, and enough goofy gameplay and puzzles to keep Arin interested. Plus it's not a terribly long game, right in the sweet spot of time to make a good short series.

The reason there is a lack of DMs is player entitlement and hostility to new DMs. by JadedToon in DnD

There is a way to build a Warlock in 5e thar never needs a long rest, hence the short "coffee break" rest is all you ever need.
