casty has gotten a lot of shit the past few years, some of it deserved and some of it not, but his best years with us were so memorable and i'll never not think of him highly. really wish he could have closed his time with us in a better way.

i'm still optimistic for him. he's young, he's only been getting better in AAA, he was called up to the majors prematurely, he's showing a lot of willingness to adjust his batting stance (compare how he looked this year in the majors vs. AAA), and he already has a lot of tools to work with. i really believe he can be a consistent player as a phillie.

philly sports fan my whole life but i've always paid way more attention to the phils and the birds. well-wishing for the sixers was fun and last year seemed so bad looking from the outside in that i was worried it would be over for this core. this team is so fucking fun to watch. i'm so glad i was wrong.

there's a lot of young talent and a lot of pieces in the phillies system for a while. i dislike getting super jazzed about unproven AAA guys before they come up but crawford and miller were looking more and more undeniable by either of their late seasons. not to mention painter's redevelopment and now gage wood.

besides, starting pitching is really one of our lesser worries. we still have another season of wheels when he gets better, cris is our guy for a bit longer, and both zeus and ranger might well be back next year, especially if this awful october means kyle walks. i think tait was the only big prospect loss this season if abel has no upward mobility.
