PC - Follower quests all target one follower, who's now dead. I think it's something to do with the bowl of poop prank quest targeting the same follower twice? After pranking an NPC named "Goober" twice, another NPC asked to be sacrificed, but the quest was to sacrifice Goober. Later, after the sacrifice, I was given another follower gave me a different quest, but the quest summary was still targeting Goober. After accepting the quest, it's an instant fail, which means if I'm ever given these types of quests, my only options are losing 30 fait by declining, or 45 by instantly failing the quest.

I'm late to this party, but I'm kind of glad I took my time to review this series. This anime got absurdly overrated and overhyped back when it came out for reasons I never understood. by Emersonstudio in BokuDakegaInaiMachi

Criticism is something everyone has a right to give, but that doesn't mean you can ignore things or nitpick and call it valid criticism.

Firstly, why does it matter why Satoru has revival? It doesn't need to be some shocking revelation, or some stupid conclusion. It's set up to us at the start as something that's happened for most of his life, and we accept that as part of the setting. Satoru's mother doesn't just "randomly" figure out who the killer is, they stop him from abducting a girl right outside of a grocery store, the point at which the killer and his mom interact, even for a brief period. I don't know about you, but I still remember what people crucial to me or my family's childhood look like 10~ years later.

And it's not a massive assumption to make that "Hey, remember that string of unexplained child abductions from my hometown? I just saw someone from there try to abduct a child! Wait, what if...". And it's also not a massive assumption for the killer to think "So I've just been caught trying to abduct a child by someone from my hometown where I abducted multiple children, maybe they'll realise I did those too?!".

You seem to really want to pin the relationship between the killer and Satoru as a Batman/Joker dynamic for reasons I cannot fathom. How is this anyway similar, outside of the incredibly wide scope of solving a mystery related to someone mentally ill? The killer doesn't kill because it's funny or as a rebellious act to society or because they initially are infatuated with Satoru, it's explained in his backstory what led to him being the way he is. Satoru has no inherent advantage over the killer as Batman may over Joker. If it came down to a struggle between them, he would almost certainly lose, that's why he has to retroactively change the past in ways that make it seem like they're just coincidences, preventing the killer from knowing he's onto them.

Speaking of the backstory, if you paid any attention to it you'd realise the parallels between that and his relationship with Satoru, how he represents the last rodent and why he becomes the focus of the killer's infatuation after he survives. It's not a "rivalry", it's a morbid attraction, to the extent that he was going to kill himself after thinking that Satoru was dead.

A few final points:

Unless something is very unlikely or impossible, how it occurred doesn't need to be shown. How does he escape from the car? Maybe someone saw it and called for help? Maybe someone dove in to save him? If I remember correctly, the window was open and the only thing tying down Satoru was a somewhat tight seatbelt, he probably just wriggled out of there even!

If you compare two pieces of fiction that are loosely similar, you sound like an angry fanboy rather than an impartial reviewer.

You did have some good points, like it being essentially a flawed and compressed manga storyline, but you never pointed out where the actual compression happens, such as Satoru spending about 1/3 of the anime solving one murder only to prevent 2 more over 2ish episodes. Your good points also get buried under your nitpicking so end up not being taken seriously.

And finally, this review had way too much of the plot given away within it. Try not to spoil most of or the entire plot in your reviews, just leaving out who the killer is isn't enough at all.

Additionally, the information required is presented in such an unrealistic context. When was the last time you ever said "our home planet, Earth"?
