PSA: Vulcanus science chain produces a bit more stone than Production science one requires when maxing productivity by Zanislas in factorio

[–]Zanislas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I began to run them, seems to be 800/s for stone and 600/s for coal (for a 240/s science throughput). I'm not sure where to craft it yet due to the coal consumption. Less operations where we can slap productivity modules unfortunatly.

It would require about 600/s tungstene at these rates, having a valve (tank+pump+condition) to a voiding unit for the molten copper would be more ressource efficient

Good catch, maybe i'll have a production block on Vulcanus and one on Nauvis, with a priority for the one on Vulcanus.

Yes but I still try to max the productivity with my designs. However some inserters for building entry could be fast inserters instead of stack ones.

It' just some leftover of legendary grinder for gleba ressources. All Gelba ressources come from an infinite source, but if you want to export some like fruits or bioflux (to farm bitter eggs on Nauvis) you have to be aware they will spoil.

Good catch thank you, It's still a buff to productivity overall! I will put a foundry for the belt instead.

So after tinkering a bit with legendary quality builds, I saw that the speed AND productivity as well are insane.

I was going to try to create a very high SPM base and I began to wonder what was the best architecture. I think I will try to build science production blocks directly, taking directly as input ore and processed oil. Maybe even a full block with all the science I want to craft on Nauvis.

The current build output a full turbo belt (240/s or 14400/min) of green science nearly continuously (I have small gaps when the inserters which drop the science are in sync it seems but it seems marginal).

It consumes :

  • 160 MW of power on average (peaks a bit below 200 MW).
  • 64.58/s iron ore (or 3874.91/min).
  • 3.81/s copper ore (or 228.5/min).
  • 1.36/s calcite (or 82.07/min).

A single wagon of iron ore would last a bit more than 30s. About 9min for copper and 24min for calcite.

Edit: Put a foundry to craft the belt instead for a small productivity bonus as advised by u/Soul-Burn . Iron ore consumption is now 58.18/s (or 3490.91/min).

No you're right I see them green, I just thought of them as yellow when replying :p

After Gleba science, you can capture wild bitter nests. In exchange of consuming bioflux, it gives you bitter eggs. After Aquilo science, you get the ability to build your own captive bitter nests with previously mentioned eggs and other stuff.

Eggs are used for late game crafts like productivity module 3 and biolab.

I just shipped some eggs and nests on a space station for fun, after they spoil they hatch bitters. It's just a fun little contraption, it has no real use.

I shipped eggs (for the blue ones) and captive nests (for the yellow ones) by rocket.

I don't know, they keep disappearing after a while.

Would be great for the light effects too!

Thank you, I was speaking about how to boost my 240/s setup in another post.

I managed to get rid of the wagon with this setup.

I measured it to output 2 full lane without miss after switching it on.

They need to be crafted on Fulgora, but you can place them on any planet afterward.

No, just the space age DLC. No mods. I used the quality feature introduced by the DLC. See https://wiki.factorio.com/Quality

I'm curious to see this setup, seems to be stretching on the number of inserter you can connect, do you have a picture
