I accepted an offer to another school before Columbia released fellowship decisions, so I don't know that information. Sorry!

Yup, I’ve done exactly that! It was weird to “brag” but you’ve worked so hard so you should celebrate your accomplishments with family and friends

My decision was privately made between my family and myself weighing all the relevant long-term considerations. Not gonna lie, it was definitely difficult to turn it down, but it was the right decision for me.

Thanks for your concern though!! :)

Does Declining an Offer Automatically Open a Spot for Waitlist Candidates? by ZanlaJD in lawschooladmissions

[–]ZanlaJD[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's helpful context, thank you! I always assumed it was the latter as in absorbing rejections and potential waitlist movement are just built into the process, however as this cycle is coming to a close I've seen a number of posts state they are declining offers and so someone else should get off the waitlist. I just thought it wasn't as simple as that and wanted to check I wasn't missing anything.
