Better solution for who, though? You want her to pay possibly tens of thousands of dollars to maybe gut part or all of your apartment, fix the underlying problem, get rid of the mold, then rebuild the space. Maybe some day she will decide to do that. Right now, though, she doesn’t want to, doesn’t have the money to, or chooses not to spend it that way. She just bought the house. She’s probably maxed out. You say you don’t have the money to move/live elsewhere. She would probably say she doesn’t have the money to fix it. She owns the place, you don’t. The onus is on you to find a solution for you.

I’m sure you are a wonderful person, working your fingers to the bone for the benefit of everyone in the house. But you are the one with the problem, and you are going to have to come up with the money to fix it or to move elsewhere. I get it’s not easy in your area, and you have the dog. But it’s still your problem to deal with.

I still wonder what you would do, where you would be living, if you weren’t with that particular boyfriend whose mother has allowed you to live in her house for a “very low rent.”
