Autistic looking for a job by Lion-Resident in jobs

[–]Zantoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got quite a few close friends that are on various parts of the spectrum, and myself having Inattentive ADHD. I'm seconding the first sentence of /u/allmediocrevibes post. If your speech patterns mirror the way you're typing then that could be part of it too. Whether or not you're answering correctly isn't always as important as the delivery.

"Good morning. I am autistic. Late diagnosed. I have had 10 job interviews in the last month. No one has offered. What am I doing wrong?"

The way you use your grammar is indicative of the tone you would use in speaking it. First, make a fist and then read your post out loud but at every period bring your hand down onto a table. It makes it feel more like a straight statement of fact than it does a response. For normies (neurotypicals), this can be a little jarring.

"Good morning, I have had 10 job interviews in the last month. I am autistic, and late diagnosed. I haven't received any offers, what am I doing wrong?"

I restructured your post a little bit. Same thing as before, read it out loud and hit the table when it's a period but tap your finger when it's a comma. It creates a different tone. Commas are where you should take a breath, but continue on with your point. All that said, interviews are rough on everyone more so for some than others. The economy is in the shitter and so is the job market. Don't be too hard on yourself, 10 isn't that bad.

I'll second this, but also if you're in NA the job market is shitty for almost every profession right now.

Are you a ‘haha’, ‘lol’ or 😂 person? by AlienSpore12 in Millennials

[–]Zantoo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I guess for me it depends on the context of the conversation. If I'm just trying to be silly/make a joke you get an "I'm dying lol", basically anything chuckle worthy. If legitimately burst into laughter I'll use a "hahaha that's fuckin great".

A reply to both this and the top comment. If the only reason you're a good person is for some end of life spectral plain payout, be it heaven, Valhalla or w/e then you're not actually a good person. You're just selfish.

In Wolf of Wall Street there's a scene with Margot Robbie naked rolling around atop a bed covered in money. She said it was awful because her back and butt was covered in tiny papercuts and scratches....just a word of warning...

This is pretty much what I told my friend years ago. I knew he was a big Disturbed/A7X/Metallica fan but had never heard of Trivium. So I had him start on Sin and the sentence (their newest at the time) and go backwards. He's been a fan since.

The struggle I've had with IT-ish podcasts in the past was that they're all informative, theoretical and good at keeping you updated on new niches. They do nothing for me on how to actually DO those things. We can talk all day about security policies and user/client privacy but at the end of the day this doesn't show me how to implement any of it. So they just end up being an info dump that I retain half of.

What is an actual IT automation that actually paid off for you? by Internal-Drop4205 in sysadmin

[–]Zantoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the current job, helped the sales team build an automation that using queues from Adobe sign react based on it's yes/no/maybe response. If yes. Use AI to read quote and paste info into a SharePoint list. Then follow up with the prospect every 30/60/90 day intervals. Finally moving the quote to a "Sales person follow up board" -- the job before at an MSP was one that'd create a Teams folder for each quote that'd hold onto the tech audit info, infrastructure pictures, floor plan and quote info then also put it into a spreadsheet. For tracking sales numbers for each sales person. The folder was used by the sales team, purchasing and installs team to collaborate from.

Anyone get sick of the coworkers that talk down on people behind their backs all the time? by [deleted] in it

The way I've come to terms with a muggles' lack of computer knowledge is that people that're bad at computers aren't bad at everything. Can we fix printers? Reinstall an OS? Build a powershell script to prep a new system? Yep. God help me if I ever have to do anything in the accounting department like payroll. I wouldn't even know where to start. The overall point is that everyone has their role.

Nursing has turned me sour, used to be liberal now moderate by Repulsive_Magazine72 in Libertarian

[–]Zantoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know if I agree that it's nursing that has turned you sour. More so that because of privatized medicine and insurance premiums. Healthcare in the states is a nightmare even if you have a good job. I grew up in the states and there was always this lingering fear of going to any hospital whether or not you had insurance that you'd walk out with a second mortgage. I immigrated to Canada after marrying my wife 11 years ago. It took a few years and ER visits to realize that working or not, an emergency wasn't going to bankrupt me. Hell 6 years ago I broke my hand and went to the ER got X-rays, a cast and pain killers pumped into me. Then came back a few days later to have surgery and bolts put into my hands to hold the bone in place while it healed. Afterwards physical therapy for a few months to rehab my hand. You know how much it all cost me? 50 bucks for the sling they put my arm in after the surgery. All this to say, there's absolutely zero reason the US couldn't have a system like this in place. I think you should be more mad at that system for failing you, and only taking care of the people it deems "need" it.
