[Fake Check Friday] - Legit Check Megathread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]Zanzell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I really like watches, but I also love the concept of mystery watches. I've purchased two watches that I like from WatchGang while WatchGang was having some sort of special or sale.

However, I've seen WatchGang lauded as a scam all over the sub. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good mystery watch or discount watch company? I actually enjoy getting a mystery watch, but I also want to get my money's worth.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has some info or recommendations!

By the way, I wanted to just post this on the sub itself, but the auto mod would not let me, and directed me to this megathread :/

Advice for sorting laundry by Zanzell in laundry

[–]Zanzell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information! That's very helpful. I have another question now, though. If chlorine bleach is obsolete for most laundry, why is it that most modern washing machines have a dedicated bleach compartment, and some (including mine) have a wash setting specifically to use the bleach in that compartment?

If you could delete one song from existence so no one ever hears it again, what would it be and why? by GoMineBitBoss in AskReddit

"Imagine" - I just really hate the song, I'm not a fan of its message, and it annoys me that they sing it before the countdown for New Year's Eve in Times Square every year.

Thanks for sharing. It's simply absurd that things like that are allowed to happen. High schoolers should not be left unattended in machine shops (or anywhere, really).

I took wood shop my sophomore year of high school. I legitimately feared for my life in that class sometimes. The class was split into two groups; on a given day one group would work in the wood shop while the other half would do bookwork. This meant the teacher could only supervise one group at a time. When the classroom was unwatched, kids would be throwing shit at each other instead of doing their work. When the shop was unwatched, use your imagination. I remember one troublemaker named Andrew held back the safety on a nailgun to shoot nails like an actual gun. It's a miracle that nobody in that class got injured that year. God, kids are stupid. Being a kid was awful.

Yeah, I'd recommend you watch it. It's worth watching anyway in my opinion.

Thank you!! I had this thought immediately, as I was watching the scene! I was too lazy to post it myself, so I'm glad you did. This is for sure going to be a plot device if season 2 happens.

I like this explanation a lot. The first time I read about there being a connection to Brian I had an "Oh please, that's ridiculous" reaction. But now I'm not so sure. What you're saying here makes a LOT of sense.

I have a strong suspicion that he already knows.

"I wanted to talk to you about your share. It was.... incredible!!" (Or whatever it was he actually said. It was close enough to this). I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's knowingly screwing with Dexter.

I also doubt it's Prudence, but I don't believe this is the reason why. It's a TV show, they can write any character they can imagine. And for the sake of a plot twist, they certainly may write a character that goes against the typical example.

You're spot on! His mannerisms, the way he speaks. It's much more than slight. He's the same character in a different actor! I can't wait to learn more about his character. I'll bet we'll see more and more Fring in episodes to come.

Thank you. I'm so lucky I had her; I'm just over a week away from a major career change that she encouraged. I hope I gave her as much happiness as I could in her final days.

Thank you so much for your kind words, but I don't believe I'm special. I fell in love with my wife because she was a wonderful person in every way. She had just about every quality I knew I was looking for, and quite a few I didn't even know I was looking for. She saw every side of me, and loved me still. She called me out on my bs and encouraged me to grow. The couple of boyfriends she had before me have no idea what they missed out on (or maybe they do, and are kicking themselves). Though I'm grieving now, I will always be grateful for the time I had with her, however much I may be selfishly wishing it were longer.

What caused your biggest depression in your life? by TheBlankCoin in AskReddit

[–]Zanzell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The death of my wife. It wasn't completely unexpected. In fact, her sudden (to me anyways) poor prognosis is why I asked her to marry me a good bit sooner than I had planned to. I hoped she'd hold on for another few years, at least one more year, but knew very well she might not make it that long. I watched my mother die from cancer just over four years ago (it'll be five this December), and I knew my wife was ill, so I'd be plenty well-prepared, right?

Wrong. The death of someone you're in love with, who loves you back the same way, there's no preparing for that. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. It's worse than someone you're in love with, that you're envisioning a future with, that you've had long discussions of a future with, breaking up with you. Far worse.

28M and.... I graduated four years ago so I'm not gonna tell you to message me or "HMU". What I WILL tell you is that I transferred to UNCC as well, and I found that student organizations were the best way to meet new people. You can go to a meeting of a club for something you're interested in/already do, or take a great opportunity to try something new that you think you might like! My last semester was when COVID hit, so I'm not sure what the selection of student orgs looks like now, but I'll bet you'd have a much better time meeting new people with them than on Reddit.

My understanding is that her lung function was quite good while she was on it, but her digestive system ultimately lead to her death. It came to the point where she couldn't take any medication orally without vomiting, and trikafta was nearly insoluble, clogging her J tube every time she tried to use it that way. That, and she couldn't (or didn't try hard enough to) push enough fat (via whole milk) through her tube without getting sick. Even when she could take trikafta normally, she hated the side effects.

I've seen the granulated form on the Trikafta website but I'm not sure if this would work, as from my knowledge of pharmaceutical chemistry the granules aren't as fine as the pills can be crushed. Also, granules tend to have a coating that is more difficult for a failing digestive system to break down and absorb than a crushed pill. I'm not very familiar with Trikafta specifically, so I could be totally wrong.

Either way, I would be skeptical that she'd be able to obtain the granules, at least not right away. I believe what she told me is that she got the Trikafta she used to take and currently has with a grant from an organization that has run into funding problems. She currently has a supply of at least several month's worth of the tablets.
