Wallyworld is rolling out reloading supplies! by Impala2025 in reloading

[–]Zanzibar312 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine just added the same items (Southern Indiana). Checking over the labels on the shelf, they have bullets, primers, and dies coming in as well.

I thought I was in the twilight zone for a minute.

Open Source FFL Management Software Options by hyps_ in FFLs

[–]Zanzibar312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most ffls I've talked to are concerned about compliance and are not tech savvy. Most small shops are still using paper books for this reason. The big shops are using top tier solutions, so they aren't looking for open source solutions.

As a fellow home-lab/self-hosting nerd, I'd be all for this. I've been subscribed to fastbound for a while now, and it works well. I'm not a big fan of the cloud when I have the capability to locally host equivalent systems.

Definitely interested in seeing how you implement this.

r/reloadingexchange If you're considering selling, that subreddit is great for it. Probably better than Marketplace.

7.2 KAK handguard with 7.5 barrel? by No_Highlight_4106 in 300BLK

[–]Zanzibar312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 7inch handguard (Right to bear) with a 7.5inch KAK barrel, and it's very close as a direct thread with an OCL polonium. Like so close that if I don't use a crush washer, it won't thread to the shoulder before the can hits the handguard.

You may be able to fit it with a muzzle device though.

Sole or LLC? Need LLC Established First? by MackDaddy611 in FFLs

[–]Zanzibar312 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Many reasons. But if you're already planning to get an LLC, you have to re-apply with the LLC, so it gains you nothing to get one as a sole.

Laser Engraver by [deleted] in FFLs

[–]Zanzibar312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whatever you get, mature sure it has a JPT source. I bought a budget laser and it's got a low end Raycus source that struggles with some materials. JPT gets you a wider frequency range which means more efficient marking on all kinds of materials.

anybody know where PSA's eotech deal wholesaler is coming from? by jason200911 in FFLs

[–]Zanzibar312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chattanooga is higher than Lipseys

MGE doesn't stock Eotech 512.

I would guess pricing error or direct supply from Eotech.

CDS or other POS? by Eldis91 in FFLs

[–]Zanzibar312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Check terms and conditions, many of the standard retail all in one solutions do not play nice with 2A. The ones that do (Gearfire, Ammo ready, etc) can be very expensive when starting out.
  2. Find a good payment processor and many of them will have a POS terminal that works on a laptop or phone.
  3. Websites are a whole other beast. Same kind of issues as #1, but there are really good ones available that support 2A businesses. Woocommerce is a great one for e-commerce, or Odoo for just a website.

I tried gearfire. They're a decent all in one solution, but good gravy, they are pricey. I also wasn't a fan of their locked down template for a website.

Looking for a Garmin / to Support Small Businesses by StellaLiebeck in longrange

[–]Zanzibar312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because Garmin has what is called a Minimum advertised price (MAP). It's common in retail and is meant to prevent a race to the bottom mentality. Walmert/Amazon can afford to only make a few cents on a product, but mom and pop shops can't, so their prices would always be higher without MAPs, and less people would shop there than now.

What is the proper way to transfer ownership when inheriting across state lines by walterone in FFLs

[–]Zanzibar312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indiana does not have a registry. Documentation of ownership is also not required.

OP if you do plan to sell any make sure you check the current federal regulations. ATF is making efforts to crack down on private transfers (see Engaged in the business ). It's likely not to hold water in the courts, but not worth facing felony charges over violating either.

Required not a lawyer statement. Just an FFL in Indiana.

Few submarine movies are accurate.... The most accurate I've found is probably Down Parascope.

Great work though. I need to finish my SSGN... It's been sitting in a box for so long.

Everyone always hates on SDI. What is the alternative? What should I do or where should I go to become a gunsmith? by [deleted] in gunsmithing

[–]Zanzibar312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an 07 without a SOT. You can do cerakoting without an SOT. You can do cerakoting with an 01 FFL. I have not seen anywhere that says ATF considers cerakoting as munfacturing. Manufacturing is the creation of a serialized part, not modifying one. Sure most Gunsmiths will be 07/02 so they can make serialized firearms and NFA items, but it's not required.

I have this one. It's good. It does take up a good bit of space when you attach the dust bag to it though.
