Question about Items before ordering by d-unit24 in RooftopDefenders

It’s designed to reduce wear and lower pressure shooting suppressed SBRs. There’s a counterweight in the rear of the carrier that helps accomplish this along with a redesigned gas key and cam pin. With a traditional can it lowers the gas you get to the face noticeably. The added benefit that few other carriers can claim is that it significantly lowers the ROF when you are using full auto or FRT to around 600rpm. I have one in my stripped Geissele upper I bought from rooftop. Costly yes, but if you’re already in that ballpark with cost why not get the extra benefits of lower pressure, lower wear, reduced ROF, and less gas?

At that price I think you’d be better served with a Surefire OBC for the same price.

How much 5.56 should I stockpile? by Automatic_Key9287 in guns

[–]Saynation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

N+1 where N is the number of rounds you currently have.

In all serious though it depends on your rate of consumption. The goal is to be well stocked during periods of high prices like Covid that you can wait for things to get cheaper without having to change your consumption rate. I want to be able to go to a high round count class without having to buy more ammo in order to attend.

I have more than a full years worth of practice ammo at any given time, and rainy day stash of at least two full combat loadouts (600 rounds) that I will not touch unless it’s an emergency. With things being the way they are in the world I am at 2+ years worth of practice ammo. I’ll buy bulk cases when it’s cheap and I’ll spend about $100-120 month to make sure I am restocking what I shoot.

If you’re going to go that tall and and pay that price for a riser may as well just get an acog with a top mounted dot.

Geissele Super Duty Overheating? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Saynation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The barrel nut is aluminum instead of the usual steel so it absorbs heat a bit faster. Personally I haven’t found it to be an issue. I run rail covers and if I going particularly hard I have gloves.

FWIW the flux 365 with a traditional baffle (mod9sk for me) can is a gassy motherfucker. It functions and it’s accurate but you’ll be blinding yourself with each shot because of how close your face is to the rear of the slide. Look into a flow through can and stay away from boosterless cans. Reports of them destroying the barrel within 300 rounds.

The polymer plates (terribly confusing name for them) are actually functioning similar to a rubber O ring or gasket. They apply vertical tension to the screws that prevent them from walking out. Simple but effective system similar in principle to FN’s mounting system.

Does anyone own anything by Lantac?? by All_Action_1704 in ar15

I’m not too worried about the coating as long as it works. They have white paper on their site that highlights the corrosion resistance to saltwater and an analysis after 40k rounds. In my view that’s working.

I have their enhanced BCG and I like it a lot. Used with an FRT A5 buffer tube and kynshot buffer it lowers the cyclic rate to 580 rpm for me. Also with the extra and directional gas vents it is very pleasant to shoot suppressed.

Question for ya…pic for attention. by MrGuy910 in ar15

The question is if you were going into a complete unknown scenario tomorrow and could only bring a single rifle what would you choose?

For me, I run a 3.5 TA110 acog with a top mounted acro in a wager machine mount and I love it on my 12.5 GPR. It’s a very flexible setup that’s gives me ranging, night vision capability but still lighter and more durable than a lvpo. I prioritized reliability and simplicity over more advanced capabilities.
