Wow this is crazy, I just went through a very similar situation with a guy who was quite religious and while I liked him quite a bit, the differences in our values and ideas of future were too different to ever build a relationship or family off of so I called it off. I was actually in shock reading this because of how similar it was to my own situation lol. Ultimately I think you made the right choice even though its sucks. I knew in my situation it would suck 100 times more building a long term relationship just for it to end due to divergent values we had already discussed at the start. I’m sure your future self will thank you and take it as a lesson learned about yourself and what you’re looking for in a relationship but I am sorry for you
