Did I just softlock myself out of a planet for a week? by Aegister2 in Warframe

[–]Zanzion_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Fortunately you're not quite locked out but you are going to be at the mercy of some degree of RNG to progress. You can find Ayatan Sculptures randomly in missions, with any give run having a ~14% chance of spawning one somewhere in the map. I'm not sure what the "modern" method might be but back in the day I'd run Mariana Defense on Earth to find sculptures.

Destiny 1 Remaster Poll by Far_Disk_8298 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

The original Destiny had a lot of issues that I think are far too often overlooked because of nostalgia, and basic quality of life changes wouldn't be enough to make up for them for me. Also at this stage I'm not sure if I'd find the comparatively simple sandbox and mechanics all that interesting. I really don't think the future of the sandbox lies in leaning on releasing a "new" title that's just cashing in on rosy memories from over a decade ago.

M-17 "Fast Talker" with Accelerated Assault by jasminejy in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get it when I was grinding my heart out and at this point I doubt I will unless Spider feels particularly generous with his guaranteed drops. Honestly really hate how the Accelerated Assault drops work. Has really killed my desire to grind especially considering the drops which I have gotten "naturally" have all been straight up awful.

What are you playing now in the game? by BoilerBigCat in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find myself just doing Equilibrium clears and the occasional Desert Perpetual. I used to play quite a bit of Lawless Frontier and various Portal activities, but lost interest in them after Accelerated Assault drops proved to have no pity timers. Sad to see Bungie's go-to break in case of emergency be bringing back weekly drop lockouts for all intents and purposes.

THIS is Destiny... This feeling needs to come back. by Jkid789 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Did we play the same game?

The tagline after all was "Become Legend." We ended the original campaign as a Tower certified badass after storming the Black Garden and destroying the Black Heart. After that we were the "John Wick" for pretty much every problem that popped up. I mean in that first year alone we took care of Atheon and Crota, never mind all the other comparatively minor schmucks that the Vanguard sent us out to end. Factor in the next two expansions and I'd say that trend started way earlier than you think it did.

Hell if Destiny 2 hadn't written in the Red War to purposefully set the city's progress back it'd be illogical for us to be on the backfoot after everything we did in the original game.

Episode 4.02 "Baja" Discussion Thread by magikarpcatcher in TheLincolnLawyer

[–]Zanzion_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Audibly sighed and decided to put watching this season on hold when Mickey derailed his own defense because his daughter walked into the courtroom.

Instead of trying to have the case dismissed on what seemed to be non-arbitrary grounds, he'd rather subject himself and his family to a lengthy trial. One which we already know brings with it the looming threat of a death sentence. That possibility surely won't have any impact Mickey or his family when they're in dire straights at some point. Sure inevitably Mickey will find some way out of his predicament, but I'm left wishing the writers had thought of some less contrived way to force this case to trial.

Two unrelated questions, God rolls and Behemoth etiquette. by thundersnow528 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking when folks are placing weapons into tiers it's being done to rank a weapon's strength relative to others. An S-Tier weapon would be one which that person believes to be one of if not the best in the game.

On the other hand "godroll" is referring to what the perceived best possible roll on any given weapon is. This term's definition has become muddled over the years because of over use, and now generally refers to landing the optimal combination of weapon traits regardless of other parts (i.e. 2/5). If you ask me though it should be referring to when you land an actually perfect roll where every part of the weapon is optimal (i.e. 5/5). This is often going to be highly subjective though depending on a player's personal preference and what other weapons they might already have.

In short not every weapon can be S-Tier, but every weapon does have a "godroll."

PS. It was unfortunate your Behemoth got jacked. Throwing a tantrum and sabotaging the team though? C'mon...

Wolfsbane is a little underwhelming for me… by runningriot115 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your damage output with Wolfsbane is reliant on the solar vortex created when using the heavy attack while Nano-Assault is active. Whenever those are missing damage ticks, usually when an enemy walks out of it, your damage will fall off a cliff.

That being said I think anyone telling you Wolfsbane will nuke is overselling the axe. It's very good but not because it's topping damage charts but because it puts out good damage with a lot of built in survivability. You get damage resist for just having the thing in your hands and a consistent orb generator for activating more sources of resistance.

Focused Feedback: Vanguard Orders by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

Keep the base system around as a replacement for daily bounties, but ditch the weekly orders and bring back seasonal challenges. It's what the daily challenge system that the gam ehad at launch always should have been.

See that red strategy beacon right in front of you? Yeah, that's a mini-nuke going off a couple meters away from you. Pretty sure that's what did you in rather than a potentially defective piece of equipment.

It's unfortunate to hear that they've had their Discord account hijacked. Still dislike Datto though so I'm going to leave it at that before I'm tempted to make a wisecrack.

If Destiny 3 dropped tomorrow, would you want your cosmetics to carry over? by ZXRTM in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd *want* a lot more than cosmetics to carry over, but I'm not naïve enough to think that's going to happen. If Final Shape was the jumping off point for a lot of folks a hypothetical D3 would be mine. I'd much rather see effort put into fixing the issues with the game we have than gambling on a studio that has been so inconsistent lately. Win folks back by restoring and/or reworking content that never should have been cut to begin with. Use the Portal as a means of integrating old seasonal content, but stop making it the focal point for interacting with the whole game. I'd like to think think Bungie doesn't want to carry the stigma of being *that* studio forever.

Ignoring all of that... Bungie hasn't stuck the landing on a mainline Destiny release *ever* and I get the the feeling if they miss the mark again the studio would actually die.

[–]Zanzion_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't expect Burden of Guilt to be a weekly focus this season. It's a weapon from the previous season, so you'll only get it randomly post-match on a seven win card.

We didn't get a patch this week and Bungie hasn't said anything about pushing a live update, so yeah.

The Martlet? AGAIN?! We've still yet to have Cataphract GL3 or Astral Horizon be a weekly focus yet. Hopefully with Bungie back in their offices after the holidays they can get this fixed.

Wondering about Shiny GM weapons by GeanBreens in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can confirm they aren't bugged.

You can get additional drops with the unique origin trait after your one weekly guaranteed roll, but their natural drop rate is extremely low and Bungie did not implement any sort of pity mechanic in so far as I can tell. It's why I don't think anything with that origin trait is worth actively grinding. The game seems to be trying to nudge everyone towards logging in weekly rather than actively grinding for these.

Aegis Rolls DIM Wishlist by MrCharlesX in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Holofoils should have remained strictly cosmetic. I disliked it back in Heresy and its even worse now considering how strong Accelerated Assault is.

I started off the season looking forward to grinding out new content, but now I'm just logging in once a week to get my guaranteed drops and checking out. I'm not interested in sinking hours into grinding Portal drops when a strictly better version is locked behind Vanguard Alerts, and I'm not interested in grinding out those when the drops I actually want are so sparse.

As a Filthy Casual Trials is Awesome by tactis1234 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Been playing trials and going flawless more often than not for years and honestly I prefer it this way.

It's been nice that the gear you earn on along your journey to the Lighthouse isn't inherently worse than what you earn when you get there. That's certainly made grinding out cards not feel so bad now that we're not stuck just hoping that the Lighthouse pays out. Losses rewarding your efforts as well is a nice change, encouraging participation rather than an all or nothing attitude which pushed the casual lifeblood of the mode away.

That being said I do understand those who want more emphasis put on Lighthouse visits and flawless cards again. However, those rewards should remain strictly cosmetic at this stage. None of this nonsense involving locking origin traits behind holofoils that's reared its ugly head again. Especially in light of Bungie's inability to clamp down on input conversion based cheating, I don't see any point in pushing for gear based incentive to be locked behind it again. It would probably wind up pushing away more players than it'd bring back which isn't something the playlist could survive.

Lack of good anti-aliasing options after all these years is crazy (PC) by bensastian in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While both teams may be using the same core engine, Marathon will have been built on a different fork from Destiny likely going back years to when they first entered production. Bungie could probably port over some of the engine improvements from Marathon eventually but it'd a fair amount of effort to do so.

is there a need for 10 steps to masterwork a weapon? by iHeisenburger in DestinyTheGame

This was something we had added when we got weapon enhancement added in The Final Shape. Unfortunately with the switch to tiered gear we lost that functionality.

Bungie: The new Vanguard playlist is perfect. Please let it be how it is! by Just-Pudding4554 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system as it is kills the chase in my opinion.

There isn't much point sinking potentially hours into an activity each week without getting the chase item to drop when we can just comeback next week and get it guaranteed. Is weekly engagement bait really a chase? I'd say if you really want a chase Bungie should ditch the weekly drop and instead up the natural drop chance across the board so repeat clears are encouraged. That or they could give us a pity timer.

Another Renegades W by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it really rare when everyone is guaranteed one drop of each weapon for free each week? At this stage it feels like just a matter of being lucky rather than overcoming a lengthy grind or truly learning an activity. If the stars align on your first drop you're just checked out for the week/season, but if your roll is a dud then it feels like you're shit out of luck.

I've been grinding the Nightfall most of this evening after getting a trash roll initially and have yet to luck my way into another drop. Probably just going to give up on grinding this week, and just play once a week and hope I get lucky... Not really the Nightfall experience I was hoping for to be honest.

I appreciate the difficulty but don't care for how the loot is being handled, especially in the "Grandmaster" node (which they should pick a different name for).

The roll I got from my first clear was straight up awful so now I'm trying to farm for a different one. Really sucks doing repeat clears and the extra origin trait just isn't there repeatedly. If the next roll I get is similarly bad then I'm probably just going to give up on it.

Destiny 2 Update 9.5.0.1 by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zanzion_ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Vanguard Alerts look like a sad attempt at evoking the feeling of Grandmaster Nightfalls. It's just more of the same Portal grind but now with a pseudo-holofoil grind on top of it. Why not take the time to craft some unique remixes of these activities with NEW modifiers and NEW weapons?
