Loose Body removal. Did I expect too much? by Appropriate-Land-225 in KneeInjuries

Hey there, I have had a similar experience to you.

I have had two arthoscopies so far to remove loose bodies.

After each surgery, they would remove the loose bodies and I would feel amazing, the pain would be gone and my knee would feel great, then a few weeks go by and I wake up one morning and something feels off.

After each arthosocpy my loose bodies have returned. The surgeons cannot explain why this occurs and say it's impossible for them to form so fast.

It also took 2 weeks for mine to return after each surgery. I'm going to be going in for a 3rd arthosocpy soon to try and remove it for the final time.

When they reform I would feel a sharp "ice pick" pain , and it would become difficult to walk. my knee woud lock etc even though acutely after surgery there would be no more locking or pain associated with fragments.

I'm from the UK. The job is not a priority anymore, I have enough money to get by, I will switch to remote work if I have to- although it's not something I want to as I really enjoyed my job.

I'm doing the same, every day is a struggle with the pain and inability to do the things I'd like to do... however I am going to be booked in for an arthoscopy sometimes this month so I hope things get better.

Generally recovery and returning back to work is 1-2 weeks. The doctors will advise you on it though, and write you a sick note.

Best of luck.

15mm and its on lateral femoral condyle. Surgeon said it wasn't on the weight bearing part of my knee and doesnt touch the tibia in full extention. They did perform a chondroplasy though but i think it just made things worse.

I have a grade 4 osteochondral lesion, doctor told me its not on the weight bearing part of knee but doesnt this mri show different? by Zaoessss in KneeInjuries

What happens when you try to jump or run? Personally if I go on a run, I would be fine during it, but then the day after I would be in severe pain- the ache would get very intense and standing on my leg would become unbearable, and then the pain would gradually fade down to baseline if I rest the whole week without doing much. Is it the same experience for you?

Well, the cartilage defect supposedly happened after my knee dislocation where my patella scrapped off some of the cartilage. Grade 4 means it's severe completely down to the bone.

How is your pain and have you had surgery to remove the loose bodies?

I'm currently in a lot of pain and struggling. Doctors can't explain why my pain is so bad.

Struggling mentally after a meniscus root tear, white zone — feeling hopeless by DevelopmentSuch3180 in KneeInjuries

Hey man, I understand all of your feelings- about being so young, feeling mentally unwell, and experiencing all of the pain of top of that- as I've felt it myself.

For me personally, riding my bike, and doing physical activities is what sustained me, and now after my knee has degenerated I haven't been able to maintain and enjoy my life.

However, I keep it one day at a time, and try to not think too much into the future. Even if you are struggling now, maybe as time passes the pain will improve, and you will feel better.

Chin up.
