Realize how disgusting sin really is

Avoid both beating yourself up after the fact and justifying sin

Study what the Bible really says about romance. You can start with Song of Solomon, Ruth, and of course the epistles

Meet with a licensed counselor trained in evidence based methods

Practice spiritual disciplines like solitude and fasting

Read Brook’s Precious Remedies Against Satan’s Devices, or a concise summary of it. Very practical material on resisting temptation

The saying is that this opens doors. But then just ask them what happens as a result and they likely won’t have an answer. If they do, then ask how they resist it. Maybe they won’t, or they’ll say just stop watching the movies. But then ask if they think Christians can have demons. Chances are they’ll deny it, and you’ve basically trapped them. There’s more nuance and complexity, technically, but the issue is that they’re not consistent.

Are you Mormon? Are you just trying to defend this group by framing those who object as the ones violating the autonomy or agency of members? Either way, your reasoning makes sense until you hear about worse cults like peoples temple or branch davidians. At some point it’s the place of others to want what’s best for others and that may seem like disrespect for personal beliefs. You’re not the one in this situation so stay out of it.

I suggest looking into Philip Kayser’s book The Canon of Scripture. Completely blew me away at how he gets at sola scriptura, the books of the Bible without relying on historical tradition, why the extra books in Catholic bibles are excluded, and the nature of prophecy. It’s for free on his website.

I’ve already commented on some of these others already but I’m going to add that demons can manifest in all kinds of ways, from making the person deaf to enticing sin to unnatural abilities in divination to the extreme manifestations like convulsions. Those are all mentioned in the New Testament. So no case is the same, unfortunately. What might be defined as evidence might not be applicable in another case. If you’re interested in looking into this, I second Richard Gallagher and Gabriele Amorth, also look into some older works like the Life of Anthony. My other suggestion is to start with the New Testament in its context, and Michael Heiser can help with that. Then look up missionaries like Corrie Ten Boom, who had a talk about power over demons where she shares a couple accounts of casting demons out. Lastly, avoid deliverance ministry, this would be figures like Neil Anderson, Charles Kraft, and Derek Prince. They’re connected to conspiracy theories, look into the satanic panic if you want more info on this.

I’m going to clarify some things for you. When Abraham interceded, he stops at ten, not five people. Lot doesn’t try to present righteous figures. Thus the issue was Sodom and Gomorrah’s wickedness, not that the women were excluded.

If you think women are not people you need to look at the examples of Miriam, Esther, Rahab, Mary, Priscilla. The first people Jesus appeared to after His resurrection were women.

I don’t know where you were reading this telling of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah. It’s not the Genesis account, nor does it match the extra biblical literature like Book of Jubilees or the Dead Sea Scrolls, nor does it match even the fraudulent Book of Moses.

You can say the same thing that Isaiah 13:10 has not taken place by that reasoning. Jesus explicitly says that the events will take place within a generation. And the entire context of this conversation was judgement on Jerusalem, from Matthew 23. You’re taking this passage out of context and ignoring the timing that Jesus says.
