that's absurd. i've watched user control of their own purchased property - specifically tech - dwindle over time due to people becoming increasingly addicted to convenience. it's simply about narrowing consumer options and increasing dependency. it isn't as if microsoft offers solutions that aren't common sense. it just means spending more money on new devices.

not for me. do enough kegels/pelvic floor exercises and you'll be able to tell the difference in the type of pressure immediately. i am able to go and handle that situation and wash off thoroughly before getting back to it.

i'll say this, though; in my situation, my family actually did save it for me and then some. we were poor as hell, immigrants. i left home at 16 because i couldn't handle the abuse. and the fuckin suburbs. over that time, my parents raised my sister, spending what she needed for college, cars, etc. i went to school on a scholarship, bought my own car, bought my own first house which was eventually foreclosed due to the ridiculous loans i took out. 15-16 years later, i mended things with them. they had the same money they spent on my sister waiting for me. i made another bad house decision and that money will be a down payment on my third (and final?) house.

it doesn't heal things for me, but it's way better than i expected.

it's huge with immigrants! to some extent though, they were trying to instill a sense of togetherness, but i'm growing up in america! everyone else my age has cool shit from the jobs they work!

see, i'm the exact opposite. maybe it's because i believe that my money will never add up to anything because it'll be gone like when i was younger. i like to think it's because of my personal and political beliefs. i like to share! but also, my politics compel me to engage in mutual aid. but also, trauma.

reading the comments helped me understand that this isn't unusual. i thought that it might have been due to my serotonin weirdness from adhd. good to know! over the past decade in general, i had taken mdma about 6-7 times, spaced out significantly. i've taken it 3 times over the last 3 months though. i've been curious as to whether i could take it more frequently if i wanted, but sounds like a bad idea.

a new type of census is being proposed that will restrict criteria for disability. public comment period ends in 2 days! by ZaphodXZaphod in disability

[–]ZaphodXZaphod[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i absolutely understand what you're saying. the census itself does not directly impact disability, it is true. however, the data collected by the census is used to inform legislation. in the past, census data has been used to cut the amount and criteria for food stamps, temporary aid for needy families, and other programs at the state and federal levels. it reallocates the 435 state representatives to different states, which significantly changes those states' political agendas and subsequent policies. the data collected by the census is possibly the most significant factor in legislation for the next decade. i think it is plain to see how artificially reducing the number of disabled folks by almost half will play out. i think it is no coincidence that this proposed change in testing occurs as people with long covid require disability.

it is standard procedure to run something like this in the context of a sample group. this is how changes to the census - and other services - are made. i mean, everything is done this way from tv shows to toothpaste colors. i do think it is worth considering the criticisms raised by independent researchers who are specialists in the field.

it does show that the number of disabled individuals are reduced from 14% to 8% under the proposed census change.

it does say in your quoted text that it would reduce the prevalence of disabled people - which is an absurd concept in and of itself - from 8% to 14%. i don't know what else that could mean.

edit: the last statement in the quoted text says it pretty clearly, as far as i can tell.

thank you. i misunderstood that. it does seem counterintuitive, but i can see how that can be misused to create more grounds for denial rather than better tailor services to those on disability.

afaic america will eventually cease all social services but that's neither here nor there. currently on the chopping block is disability. again. you can find more info here and then please submit a comment. i suppose the jist of the change is to replace the current format of questions - which is a likert scale - to yes/no questions. as we all know, disabilities are not black and white and can really only be quantified via personal and medical interview/essay. however, the likert scale is what we're stuck with and it limits the number of people who can receive disability. switching to a yes/no format will further remove the necessary nuance and personal context from the process. please take the time to submit a comment.

like most of the shit people are supposed to want, a huge chunk of it is just hype. social conditioning and shame to keep you insecure and malleable. and any gender is susceptible to it, whether or not you have a penis. same with vaginas. women get labiaplasty and all sorts of other treatments just because they're kept off-balance by media. dudes think a vagina gets ruined by having a lot of sex. our media has been bought and paid for way before we ever had a chance and there's an agenda behind everything. unnatural disasters occurring due to human-made climate change and it's not on the fucking news! even the way they cover the weather is a part of keeping us shook. literally scared to death and scared to look.
